westiefan
My Westie over the past months has had a black/brown patch on his tail. No it isn't dirt it is actually back and brown fur. Any ideas as to why a white dog would suddenly start growing brown and balck fur in one patch?
Poodle wrangler
My black mini poodle gets little patches of brown grow thru occasionally and breeders say it's related to having brown in the pedigree (which he has). First noticed it at about 4 years old.

ShellyBeggs
Your westie hasn't hurt that spot, sometimes the hair on scar tissue can be a different colour??? BTW you haven't home died your hair lately???? My mum has a white mini foxy and couldn't work out where the red/brown spot on his bum came from and was about the rush to the vet when she worked out that she must have flicked a bit of hair dye onto the bathroom floor and he must have sat on it. Ari
A lot of the westies I groom have a similar problem. It seems to come and go. What does the skin look like in that spot? I've always assumed its allergies or something similar. Edited September 19, 2007 by Ari
