Frontline Spray - And Capstar Tablets

I found fleas on Missy. I used the frontline spray earlier tonight and then I read on the net that the Capstar tablets are actually the fastest flea treatment. I went straight up to my vet (open late) and got Missy the capstar tablets. I gave one to her just before and then I realised maybe I shouldn't have given her both treatments on the one day? Should I bath her to get rid of the frontline that I sprayed on her, or will it really not matter having both as one was a spray and one a tablet? Please help!

Edit: Also, as she is a puppy she has only just started on Sentinel Spectrum (which I believe only makes the fleas unable to breed), thus I had to use something that killed adult fleas.

I've just found an answer to my own question on the Capstar website:

"CAPSTAR Tablets may be used together with other products, including heartworm preventives, corticosteroids, antibiotics, vaccines, de-worming medications, shampoos and other flea products."

PHEW!!!!!

I use Advantix for fleas and tick prevention. Starts killing fleas within 20 minutes. Not sure about Frontline.

Frontline spray starts working immediatly- It effects the nervious system of the fleas-you should see fleas dropping off within 5 mins of application,they should be dead within 15-20mins.

Have you treated the house?if not your pup will be reinfested almost straight away-the fleas will die but you will continue to see live fleas as new ones attach.Also you should treat any other pets you have at the same time otherwise the pup will get fleas off them-this includes cats.

frontline top spot takes 2 days to spread around the entire coat.

The best way is to get some flea bombs and do EVERY room in the house,however this only kills the fleas not the eggs which are deep in the carpet.

You should block off any access under the house if possible.

Treat any areas the dogs lie or frequent.

The most important thing is to make sure you apply frontline or some other flea control relgiously even if it seems like it is not working it will be,only there are lots of eggs etc so reinfestation is possible but remember if the dogs/cats are treated any flea that jumps on them will die.

Capstar tablets only last for approx 3 days.

My dog is allergic to fleas and is under a dermatologist who put her on 1/4 Capstar tablet every day. The dog weighs 14kg and I buy the tablets for large dogs from the supermarket which is usually much cheaper than getting them from the vet. You find them in the pet food section.

The fleas must have come from Missy when I bought her home (she's 9 weeks old so just started on Sentinel this week).

They are both on Sentinel Spectrum and now that they've had their once off Capstar tablet after I spotted a few fleas, should I be adding a flea preventative to be used with Sentinel on a monthly basis? If so, which flea preventative do you recommend for use with Sentinel? Should I use it long term or just for the next few months?

Capstar tablets only stay active in your pets blood stream for 24 hours not 3 days ;)

My dog Jak has always been on Sentinel Spectrum since I first brought her home (my vet says it's the best one for her) and only this past weekend actually I noticed an adult flea on her! I gave her a Capstar tablet and she was fine... No more fleas!

Ok, so the best thing is to just stick with Sentinel Spectrum and have Capstar around incase I see an adult flea.
