Tiger_bluez
Hi My puppy Zoya likes to clean up her private part. I thought being part of husky makes her likes to grooming herself. She has her second vaccination last week saturday. I notice today that she has white discharge on her private part. Is it ok? The vet who gave her vaccination said that everything are great with her. and she hasn't lost any appetite. any advices? cheers
schnauzer_luv
Personally, I'd keep a close eye on it. If it gets worse, changes colour or her behaviour changes...straight to the vet. An infection in that area would be most unpleasant!
Wynnlake
Sounds perfectly normal. She may continue to get this until her first season, when it will clear up. Im assuming as you said she was 'part husky' you will be getting her desexed. If this is the case, dont desex her until after her first season, or she may continue to get this discharge for life. If it changes colour or has an offensive smell she may need a course of antibiotics. Maybe you could discuss this and desexing issues with the vet when you return for her 3rd vaccination. Good luck with you pup.
Tiger_bluez
Hi thanks for the replies. She is due for her 3rd vaccination next month and i am planning to get her desexed before she hits 6 months old. I hardly smell anything apart from typical puppy smell and she still hyper, loves her food and playing. I will discuss it with the Vet on my next visit. thanks
Wynnlake
No worries, it might be worth waiting until she has had a season before you desex her otherwise she may have this for life. Your vet will be the best one to speak to about that though. Good luck with your girl.
Clyde
I disagree Candice. As a vet nurse we have always advised owners that the discharge usually ceases after desexing, whether it be prior or after first season. And going by revisits this has proved to be the case. Poodle wrangler
I'd strongly advise to have her desexed before her first season. Dogs will go to great lengths to get to yours in season and it's just not worth the risk of pregnancy at such a young age .
Tiger_bluez
How old is when a female puppy has her first season? I am watching her like a hawk. When i am not home, she will be in her crate. But i am planning to get her desexed her soon before she hit her 6 months old. and as well, i know that husky or german shepherd breed are prone to hip problem. I am thinking to her x-rayed to see if anything i can do to prevent the problem. any advices? cheers
