...a canine disc training clinic in Gympie?

Or are there other locations that we don't yet cover that you would attend?

Well I live close to Ipswich and therefore would REALLY appreciate something on the West side of Brisbane

(esp since one of my dogs gets car sick  )

How about you operate around Melbourne?

If you got enough interest to make it worthwhile, I'm sure we would send someone down for a one off.

If you know of any locations that would be suitable can you please PM me. How west are you talking, Fig Tree Pocket kind of west or Ipswich?

Hey ML,

I don't think its the type of thing my girl would excel at :)

However, I'm happy to help you get the word out up this way....Do you have any flyers?

There is also a couple of doggy events coming up in Gympie where there is a possibility for you to do some demo's and see what kind of interest you can raise?...Local Obedience club is doing a grand opening at their new grounds in about a fortnight and RSPCA is doing a Pet Expo in Gympie in October...

Let me know if you want more details.

We're already booked for the RSPCA expo and are hoping to make our final decision on a Gympie meeting after that. Thanks! ;)

Maybe I'll come check it out!

I'll be the mad woman with the chocolate BCs.

How do you find heavier dogs handle it? It's maybe something that I wouldn't mind doing for fun in the back yard...not sure about the rigours of competition though....

I'd love to show you video of my Bullmastiff boy playing but not only does it have vision of me in it, it has audio of my "praise voice" and that's SO not being put on the internet! ;) He won't play in front of an audience at this stage - only at home - so I haven't really tested him over large distances.

Competitions aren't all that strenuous. A Toss & Fetch round is 90 seconds long, with the best 5 throws counting towards your total. Points are scored:

- 1 for a catch made over 10m and under 20m

- 2 for over 20m and under 30m

- 3 for over 30m and under 40m

- 4 for over 40m

An extra 0.5 point is given if the catch is made "with all 4 feet off the ground in an obvious jumping motion".

At the bottom of the page here you can watch some videos of Toss & Fetch rounds.

Freestyle for the advanced players is a maximum 2 minutes routine set to music (mostly to pump you up and help you remember segments) where various skills are shown with multiple discs. This is where moves like flips, over the body jumps and vaults (off the handlers body) are done.

i'm sure i will be able to get plenty of local dogs, had heaps of interest at our microchipping day, when i handed out the BARK flyers, but when i said clinics are currently being held around brisbane most wouldn't travel that far... the demo at the RSPCA pet expo will be sure to get lots more interest..... was thinking what if we had a survey for people to fill out whether they would be interested or not...

I'd love to do this but can't find anywhere near me, is there anything on the gold coast?

We don't conduct any clinics on the Gold Coast, closest would be the Kuraby ones. We have members who travel from the Gold Coast to all our events, we could maybe see if they'd be able to offer you a lift?

We will be doing a demonstration at the Gold Coast Pet & Animal Expo on Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th October at the Varsity Lakes Sports & Arts Centre. Due to the KC forced cancellation of the Qld Canine Disc State Championships, we will be conducting the event at the expo on the Sunday. You can come and watch or you can enter and give it a go (just $10 entry).

If all goes well this year, we may permanenty move the championships to the Gold Coast - at least that will be one event. :hitself:
