Well done for your first VCA trial (haha - TO I *did* go up and say hi... knew I recognised the dog somewhere  ) Pax - well done to you! And also to Laffi - great to hear your little girl is paying more attention!! Arya - special congrats to you!! Even for just 'staying put' and plugging away! What a happy little thread AS for me - did more training last night - have hit a wall with K and her d/b - but have been offered some suggestions so will try that... Did some scent work with Leo (getting ahead of myself here!), don't really know how to teach it, but wanted him to be happy to pick up each article first.... does ripping it out of your hands and trotting around the room with it in your mouth count?!?!? ..... he just LOVES the seekback too!!! SpikesPuppy
Ziva graduated from puppy school last night (okay, I don't think you can NOT graduate ;) ), did all the little commands that were required and as her trick was 'spin' we extended that to spin whilst heeling/walking on a loose lead. BUT the thing that made me most proud of her?? During both free playtimes (one at the start, one at the end of class), Ziva recalled to me perfectly, even with the other pups following her and jumping all over her She also ignored the other pups when I called for a focus if they wandered over to her during the little training sessions. I'm very proud Also had her first show on Saturday, she paraded around the ring like a little pro and even stood still on the table! Not bad for a 15 week old terrier pup As for master Caber, we have been working on our stays and he can do a 6 metre drop-stay in the park for 60 seconds. Okay, I don't know how he would go on a busy day but it's a start. His heeling has also improved greatly, he is paying alot of attention to me during the excercise. We'll get off our butts and trial at some stage. Ha.
huski
Husky - WTG Micha! such a clever boy! Daisy will be a good girl in her own time i'm sure LOL thanks LP, I felt a bit bad after saying that though as Daisy ended up behaving herself quite nicely at training last night I actually found a way to get her to stand without sitting again

MonElite
OH went to feed the chickens that live in a chicken pen and my dogs obviously would like to eat them if given an opportunity. He opened the pen and 6 chickens escaped, dogs in the yard, with no collars. Dogs puzzled and started to go after the chickens. OH yelling to me for help. I walked outside called the dogs and they came straight back to me admitedly they were reluctant but they did come back. This is after Divani stands at the pen staring at the chickens and trembling. Up until now I had her standing with my hand under her belly, but Daisy just didn't get it. I train with food, so I put a treat (I use chicken) in my hand, and after giving the signal to stand I close my hand into a fist, in front of Daisy's face. She stays standing to sniff/lick my hand. It's works well to get her to stay standing, because as soon as I would treat or praise her she would sit again LOL.

leopuppy04
Another thing to try Husky - have about 5 pieces of food in your hand. Get her focussed on the food - feed her one and if she is still standing, immediately give her another, and another, and another. Then release her and have a game. Kinta used to sit also - but this is a really basic way of getting them to hold the stand. After all - why would you sit (almost wrote Sh!t... oops! ) when there is food on offer!!! Guest Clover
Way to go Ziva and 'Mum' of course. Ziva did great at Geelong, she looked like she was having a great old time. And well done with Mr Caber's stays, might see you at trials if i get off my butt and re join the VCA. Well done everyone. ETA: I did some obedience work with Elvis last night and used a motivator, and wow what a difference in his heeling... he was close and enthuasiastic. There might be hope for the boy yet . t(AD)pole
tollersowned- Yep that was me ;) It seems half of DOL was at croydon. I also spoke to Helen with Bella but I didn't mention DOL. Leopuppy- Abbie's novice agility run was much better then jumpers but I guess first run of the day is always gonna be a shocker. Our main problem is my parents, Abbie loves them too much and she thinks she should join them in watching me run around the ring waving my arms about and yelling crazy commands! Not sure if I should enter Knox and if I do should I try 3 runs?...Just looked at the vicagility website and they only have novice agility/jumping in the AM trial so that solves that problem...and I'm not about to try one of the games. eta: Well done to everyone else and their brags! We must have been in some of the same classes as you at Croydon! I'll have to keep my eye out for you (when I'm not running between 3 rings at once). Are you entered at Hastings this coming weekend? I haven't looked at Knox's schedule but you should try Snooker - we've only done it once at had a ball and it seems pretty straight forward - not too much adding up to work out if you've scored enough points to pass, my maths is shocking We're having another try this weekend at it. Good luck for Knox if you enter.
t(AD)pole
Silvawillow- I'm not entered in Hastings as I didn't want to enter two trials in a row just in case Croydon was a disaster. I ended up entering Knox but only novice agility and jumping. I think we will wait a bit before we try an games, just coz I need more practice and I'd need to watch them before I have a go. Rainey
My brag is really lame, but I am proud of Scud and his attitude to getting in his crate on command. He understands that to complete the command that he must be entirely inside the crate and sitting and he makes his own adjustments if his front paws are still hanging out the door. It is really cute! JulesP
Can I just brag that Brock is a lovely little dog to have around? Well both the dogs are! They are both so obedient and well behaved that they are just a total joy. Brock's new 'trick' is finding the pony for me, he runs and 'points' to where ever she is. It is pretty cute and he is very proud of himself!
jaybeece
We started at a new dog school today (the old one is too far away now) and I'm EXTREMELY proud of my boy with how well he went. We've had a break from dog school for about a year due to it getting too hard with his dog aggression so he really hasn't had a lot of exposure to other dogs. It's sucked, but there really aren't any places where he can socialise in a controlled environment. Anyway, I spoke to one of the instructors about him and she ended up stopping a class so he could do a walk past all the dogs. He ended up sitting and staying a metre from a golden retriever, the closest he's been to one in over a year without going crazy at it and did about 4 passes of the class without batting an eyelid. He also had a go through an agility tunnel (fully extended) and seemed to really love it I can't wait to go back now! He's such a good boy
Kowai
Zach and I tried weight pulling for the first time today! I finally got his harness in the mail, and the Alaskan Malamute Club had an introductory day today for the activities the club is involved in. I hooked Zach up to a small tyre and away we went! He did so well! I was worried he wouldn't like pulling but after a few tries he was really good at it and enthusiastic!! Next week we're going in a competition day! leopuppy04
I absolutely love this thread! I think it's great for people to brag about the minor things their dogs did - from giving them a cuddle (for a non-cuddly dog), playing with a toy (for a non-toy motivated dog) or just plain being GOOD! I remember before I trialled, I used to get so proud of my dogs, have nothing to show for it, but think it 'worthless' to tell anyone since they had achieved far better things!!! So keep them coming and congrats to everyone! My brags for the weekend.... Leo usually at agility trials will tug before we go into the ring, but wont after. On Sat- he had a ball - tugging both before AND after his run . Made me sooo happy! Second brag - took both dogs (via train) into the city today and they were SOO good - didn't bother anyone on the train (their first time on) just slept at our feet and took it all in their stride... behaved really amicably and they were just a pleasure to take around
Kowai
I'd just like to brag that Kapo has become really affectionate lately! It seemed a few months ago she was so aloof.. She wasn't licky or cuddly, and would sleep outside! Now she may go outside for a bit - but then she comes inside and sleeps on the bed! She's also starting to lick now and be really affectionate and cuddly! It's so cute
Silvawilow
Dragged my tired and sore body to obedience training yesterday morning and decided to work with Denny. We have been working on our recall a bit lately. He comes in at a nice pace but has been getting a bit antsy when I return around him (stamps front feet). I called him, came in nicely, I returned around him and stupid me trod on his stumpy as I when around him (he's an Aussie with little stumpy, you'd have to be trying to stand on it). I was so proud of my gruby boy, didn't move a muscle, just gave me a silly head and puffed his chest out.
