Guest Steph & Bam
Last night I had to run out to the car and it was time for Bam to go to the toilet before bed so i took him out with me not realising that the neighbours cat was in my yard. This is usually a problem as the cat takes off whenever it sees a dog and Bam loves to chase things that are running. Last night though, Bam took off, and I called "Come" and to my utter astonishment, he turned and came back immediately !!! I had Bam at work with me today for a bath and doggy cologne, and my boss had her 5yo there (cute kid who won't touch a dog without the owners permission) and she asked to pat Bam, I said yes she could, but she needed to shake hands with him first, she looked at me really funny when I said that, so I asked her to wait where she was. I told Bam to 'Go say hi' and he did!!! He went up to her, sat down and offered his paw to her without being asked to do it!!! I'm so very very proud!!!!! silly I know, but a major achievement for him, usually he slimes their faces and lays down for a belly rub!!!! I have taught him to roll over, shake, high 5, high ten, figure 8 around my legs, auto sit on recall, drop on command, wave (now at a distance ), fetch all his toys by name (tug, green tug, mr floppy, ball, big ball, tennis bone, ring & rawhide (he gets his latest rawhide toy)) and to get his coat, 'other side', come around (basically return to heel), have a drink, wait (for dinner, or I'm coming back don't move), stay (I'll call you in a minute), watch, go for a run, spin, left and right (he turns in either direction when we're on a walk), go see daddy (he'll sit at OH's feet wagging his tail like mad), Go get daddy (he runs and jumps at OH licking and pawing, it's really funny as Zorro Crazy has seen) and go say hi (still proofing this one) All in all i'm pretty happy with him!! I'm working on him not being so excited to see other dogs, he's not uncontrolled at all, just over excited when he first meets them. Heel is not a stong suit with him..... ETA: We are working on Heel, it's just taking a long long time lol, I don't mind though, he doesn't pull, just wanders to the end of the lead and back.
