Hi all,

I have been talking to people who say that there are dog parks with agility equipement all set up so that the general public can go an practice with their dogs!! Does anyone know of any of these "agility parks" in Victoria?

There are a number of the in QLD - i'd be curious if Council is liable for any injuries that could happen due to uneducated use of the equipment etc  Not to mention if a dog is going over the equipment and another dog rushes in and they collide, or same bit of equipment is accidently used by different dogs at the same time causing injuries or fear of said equipment etc

So far have seen weave poles, see-saws, tunnels, jumps, tables, hoops, bridges etc.

There is one in Mordialloc. Can't remember the address but it was not good. The jump bars cannot be displaced and the dog walk ramp is very steep and slippery. I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking into agility because it is not safe.

As the others have said Kepala Park has agility although there is a cost ($6 for half and hour I think or if you come to a DOL meet there $15 for the day).

I've seen a public agility park in QLD but not in VIC so far  I agree though its probably better if there aren't any - so inexperienced people and their dogs don't use them.

We have one in Orange NSW, I agree that they arent the best, weave poles are metal, bar jumps are metal and not adjustable and the A Frame, dog walk and see-saw are made of slippery wood that you would not even dream of going on in the mornings in winter or if it has rained even a little. Hoop jumps are also metal and if a dog misjumped they could easily hit their head. Everything is miniature to the real equipment.

All this said I do use it and do so with great caution. People around here dont use it that much as they are just too lazy I think, I live right near it and VERY rarely ever see people in it.

Thanks for the replies everyone, Mordialic is too far for me, and I agree, they probably arent the best idea for the general public who dont know about agility. If there was a safe one near me, i'd be the first to try it out, and yes, I have done agility before
