mcq
I have a 3 month old GSD pup (pictured with dam) her ear has just started to curl backwards. I have never seen them curl like this before and I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea if it's just the normal ear rising process in an unusual form or is it something I should be concerned about? You can see the ear in this picture...
Echo
Although I have never experienced this with my own pups, I have seen 3 GSD pups with ears that did this. One of these pups had both ears curled back at the tip. All of them ended up correcting themselves by the time they were 6 mths old. If you are worried that it may not end up normal, you might try taping the ear for a couple of weeks. But at only three months of age, I would not be worried about it yet. Your pup and her mum are both lovely. I really like a well coloured sable. Good luck with your baby. Julie
mcq
Thanks for that, I've seen them do all kinds of weird things but never curl and the other ear started following suit today... I was a little concerned as I'd never seen that. They have stood straight already though - it's like when they went up, they shot up so fast they flipped backwards
rugerfly
Not sure about sheppies, sorry. They do look sweet together though. I've never seen colour like that before, where are they from?
mcq
They are working line Rugerfly. Dark Sable is the color you can get it darker and lighter than that. I also had 4 solid blacks in that litter... And a young bitch I unfortunately lost in an accident earlier this year was a GORGEOUS dark sable (I still haven't quite got over losing her yet )... As you can see, I didn't have any ear problems with any other pups
EISHUND
They'll correct themselves, they don't look like anything to worry about. If she was older perhaps, but she is only 12 weeks old, it's CrAzY time!!! Are they only flicking back when she's looking up? As I do know one dog, whose ears are erect, but when he runs, the ear tip on one folds due to a weakness. They may be your worst case scenerio if it doesn't improve. Beautiful girl by the way, and Mumma dog eta: i'm a sucker for a sable Edited September 1, 2007 by LuvMyWhiteShep
