Holly Has Gone To The Bridge

Today my sister of seventeen and a half years was sent to the bridge, i grew up with Holly a border collie cross. She was my mate and my sister. Mum picked her out from a byb bred litter (we didnt know any better then) and a closer pair you couldnt imagine. It wouldnt have mattered if Holly had the best pedigree under the sun she couldnt have possibly be loved any more. She was a working dog and spent her the majority of her youth in shearing sheds with my mum. Always together and the most loyal dog you could ever meet. Addicted to chocolate nothing was safe unless baracaded in a high cubpoard. We have known for a while her time was coming, but she was eating fine, not in pain and still mobile. Today she lost the power to stand on her own and mum knew it was time.

We took her to the park for a last sniff and meander around then bought her a choclate icecream, when the time came she was more engrossed in the liver treats then interested in what our vet was doing she had her last taste and then faded of too sleep.

Im going to miss her more then i could say, but nowhere near as much as mum will. She will be well met a the bridge with Banjo, Tripper and Dude all waiting to greet her. Till we meet again old girl safe journey.

Oh, so sorry.

There is a special place for working dogs ,with no dust. The sand is cool underfoot, and the sheep are woolly and biddable. Rams do not charge at dogs, there;)

There is always a river in which to cool off, and there are no prickles to get in their pads
