Goodbye My Faithful Friend.

I'm sitting here absolutely heart-broken.

My beautiful rat Otto was found in the deepest of sleeps Sunday night. He seems to have passed away from old age.

We knew he didn't have long, but I don't think there's any such thing as being prepared for the death of a loved one.

I have never felt as loved by any pet as I did by him. He was a furry ball of love and always brought a smile to my face. He worshiped the ground I walked on and I adored him.

Losing him has left me physically aching.

He is buried under our olive tree, and I can't help but worry if he's cold, or scared. It's stupid I know, but he should be with me- not out there..

My only comfort is that he is now reunited with his brother who left us earlier this year. They were inseperable and Otto was never the same after the passing of his brother.

Oh Elise I am so sorry for your lose.

They really aren't with us long enough and it feels sometimes like the extra special ones leave even sooner. No matter how many we have I don't think you are ever ready to say goodbye.

Rest easy Otto and have fun at the bridge with your brother and the other furries waiting to join their loved ones again one day

So sorry for your loss, ratties are not with us near long enough

RIP Otto

Thank you Shek. I don't think there is such a thing as "long enough". I think when you have something so special in your life, you can't help but want more time than what you're given.

Thank you Sandra.

I try and think of the good times for comfort but it hurts knowing that there won't be any more. That I won't see him light up when I walk in the room, there won't be any more games or talking things through with him. I miss him so badly.
