SnoFyre
Hi all, I have just had a request come through from my Brother because of my association with the great people in the dog world. My nephew, who is 3, suffers from epileptic seizures, about 12 a day unfortunately. He is a gorgeous kid who has already had the bad end of many health issues and is known by his first name in the local hospital Emergency ward. Not a good thing for anybody. If they manage to get through a month without Darryl going to hospital, it has been a good month. Anyway my brother has asked if I know of any service dogs in Australia that detect seizures. Now I know there are some overseas that have been trained, but I am appealing to anyone who knows if there is training done here in Australia to either post or PM me with any info they may have. They have been in contact with an organisation in QLD that won't even consider them because Darryl is only 3. When has a need for assitance come with an age restriction??? Erny
Try contacting Steve Austin. If anyone can steer you in the right direction, I'm sure it will be him. Poor little tyke (your nephew). Hope he finds what he needs and that this is something that as he matures will become less.

Erny
There is assitance dogs here in victoria who help train seizure dogs. I knew of the Assistance Dogs in Victoria, but didn't realise they trained them to scent/detect oncoming seizure activity. That's good to know. Thanks.
