Homemade Flyball Training?

 Share

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately there are no flyball clubs close to me (Ipswich QLD). However I decided it's not going to stop us LOL. I want to come of with an equivalent to flyball to practice at home. I do have jumps but I don't have the box. What would you suggest for the equivalent of the flyball box that could be homemade?

If you have any suggestions regarding the training: tips, links books etc I would be very grateful.

go to the Australian flyball website www.flyball.org.au

go to the links page and there are links to NAFA which has alot of training links. Also search for how to make a 'turning board' which is what you will want rather than a flyball box. If you are handy, make it yourself, otherwise they are available for about $200.

Be careful training a turn without instruction from someone who knows what they are doing as it is easy to develop bad habits. You want to get a nice swimmers turn, rather than a slam, which will lead to injury. Do a search for 'Spring Loaded.' they are a USA record holding team who have done some excellent training DVD's.

Join the Flyball-Oz yahoo group. Sometimes people have second hand equipment for sale on there.

good luck and maybe think about getting others involved and then you can start your own team.

Hi Laffi,

We live at Springfield Lakes and train/compete with the Awesome Pawsome Club who are at the Mt Gravatt Showgrounds. We have people travelling from Toowoomba, Redbank Plains and Jimboomba to our club, so we come from far and wide, and you'd be most welcome! Even if you couldn't come every week, even every 2nd, you'd certainly benefit from the training and being able to use the equipment, plus you'd have someone to compete at competitions with!
