Ways To Out An Object

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Would like some tips on how to go about teaching this,

I know she knows the word out, as after rewarding her, and she brings the ball back,

I'll tell her to out It and she does, although sometimes taking a little longer to out than Is supposed to.

I now need for her to out It after play is finished ( ie: by me when we've had a little tug game )

I'll tell her to out, when there's no more movement, as I know once movement starts again It means play again for her, but she'll start tugging again!

Ok, I hope that made some sense :D

Thanks

I initially stop all movement by holding the article, still against my legs, with my arms outstretched. Depending on the dog, reassuming the game timing, I feel is important. Some dogs need their brains to catch up with their excitement.

I ask my dog to sit and then swap the object for a small piece of food. So trophy for trophy. I don't have to give food all the time now but she's happy to give it up as has become conditioned in this way. Also, if you are thinking of trialling, save 'out' for play etc. and just use 'give' for the dumbell. Well, that's what I do anyway. :D
