Angelblaze112
This must be the day for questions about CKCS pups! I have had my 12 week old CKCS pup for 12 weeks. For the first few days she cried a lot during the night, but then she came good and would sleep a full night. Now lately, she has started it up again. She sleeps in the spare room ensuite which is her little room with her toys that she stays in when we go out. It has her bed and she is ok for a few hours but she won't sleep through. I get up to take her to the toilet and she goes but when i put her back down she won't go back to being quiet. I have left her for up to an hour crying because i don like getting her while she is crying because she knows will make it a habit, but I have to get her now so that everyone in the house can get some sleep. She cries until i bring her in to bed with me, which id really prefer not to do & not to get in to a habit of... I have tried telling her off, as she knows the word "No" and i have tried hot water bottles, clocks etc. Its getting very frustrating. Does anyone have any advice for me? As much as the household needs their sleep, I spent two weeks with one crying baby in the laundry, I was near on loosing my mind with exhaustion and breaking my heart at her cries but I never, ever, ever, broke my resistance to go and fetch her. Maybe get everyone ear plugs and start again without going to her no matter how long she cries for.
SueM
I would be buying a dog crate and have her sleep in your room
Tapferhund
Does anyone have any advice for me? Yes ! Keep her in with you ! It must be very lonely and frustrating for her to be shut away from you but if you don't want her on the bed then put a crate or small pen next to your bed with her Hottie and toys in it......but personally I can't see why she can't be on your bed.......if that's what it takes to make her settle throughout the night. It is not as if she were the size of a Great Dane to have on the bed with you. I have a Mini Foxie who has slept on my bed for all of her 14 years and I wouldn't have it any other way. Gawd Riles............ you're a hard task master ! Nope I rented a friends daughter place (up in Sydney), dog was NOT to be inside (of course she did come in just not upstairs to the bedrooms) cause she is a smoothie the amount of hair she sheds and I didn't have a Dyson then. You'll be please to know Princess Pocket (along with Mr Dyson) now sleep on the bed Angelblaze112, Varicools idea is a fantastic one too Edited August 14, 2007 by Riles
sas
I'd be popping the crate in the room with you and then over the next couple of months move it bit by bit to the other room. The family is just going to have to put up with the crying, it usually doesn't last for longer than a week if you don't go to her when she's crying, wait for a break in the crying, take her to thetoilet, no laying and then put her back in her crate. Whether it's right or wrong I'm not sure, but for the first 3 days when we brought Dante home, I would sleep next to his crate on the floor and when he was sound asleep I would sneak back to my own bed. Good Luck. Edited August 14, 2007 by sas
dogdogdog
I'd go the crate too. My boy I left in the laundry at night when he was little and he cried and cried. And there used to be lakes and messes in the laundry in the morning. My girl I crated from day 1 until she was house trained. She almost always slept through the night and never messed in the crate at all. So who do you think was house trained first. Yep the boy.
Angelblaze112
Lol dogsdot! I have a crate that i had her sleeping in and then i went back to the room because she was happier in there! I have introduced the crate back so its in the room and her bed is in there so she doesnt get such a big shock of sleeping in the crate. She is now 12 weeks, how many times should i get up at night to take her to the toilet?
Poodle wrangler
Perhaps it's also cold in the bathroom- the tiles suck up any heat in there? I'd guess twice a night at 12 weeks. Also feed her and give her treats in the crate to reintroduce it as a happy place.
Angelblaze112
I dont think so, we have ducted heating that goes in there as well so its not really cold in there, and i have paper down (which she loves to tear up) so its not really cold in there. Ok I will start crate training her again! Aarghh. lol. I like my sleep, lol. She starts puppy school this week the lil darling.
malchi_girl
Hi there we are new to the forum on sunday we picked up our gorgeous malchi charlie. he is 8 weeks old but when we took him to the vet she said she thinks he may have been born premature. i have two questions what should i feed him to gain weight as he weighs a tiny 1kilo and the vet wants him to gain weight and how do i stop him from crying when i leave his sight my partner and i both are out of the house during the day and i know he cries when we leave . he has improved over night as we have been ignoring him and he only cried out once. he lives inside in a kennel in a playpen and has toilet trained himself on the puppy training mats for which we are both very proud and grateful any advice on my two questions would be great. thanks
Risyntira
I have had my 12 week old CKCS pup for 12 weeks Does anyone else see anything wrong with this? Unless you bred or hand raised as an orphan you shouldn't have this pup until its at least 8 weeks of age... or is this a typo? that aside.... I'm having the same problem with my 7 month old bitch (whom I bred) who wont stop crying/barking we've tried everything from her sleeping in the house and kenneling with her mother, nothing works for her.... I guess I just have to put up with the barking I'd let your CKCS sleep in your bedroom and see how you go
