KaiGSD&Cav
My GSD has been an outside dog most of his life, he is a bit unsettled in the house. Now that I am not working I am home during the day and want him to spend more time inside. One thing I have noticed is his doggy smell, I have never really noticed it before. How often can I hydro bath him? And I will be using a drive through one as I don't have access to any other.

I usually do my 2 gsd's about once a month. You could try using a doggy deoderant between times if he still gets to smelly
Peachie
It really depends on the dog. I would start, as 4paws said, at monthly, and see how it goes from there. You may find he needs it ever 3 or 6 weeks. If you give him a good blow dry (assuming the diy place has blow drying facilities) the was should last longer than if you just chamois/towel dry him. wagsalot
I agree with the others. Id be trying monthly and see how that goes.
Poodle wrangler
Added benefit of having him blow dried will be the amount of dead fur you'll get rid of! A good brush will also help remove some of the dirt. I'm not sure which type of brush is best for GSDs? Get a good one as they're so much better to use (I learned this the hard way). Diet and age seems to affect smell, also. Older dogs seem to get pongier. Those fed mostly raw food seem to smell better. Bathing, blowdrying and brushing should work well, though. I'm not a huge fan of the doggy deodorants- the cover-up sometimes is worse overall than the original smell. Didn't someone suggest some cornstarch or bicarbonate of soda thru the coat, then brushed out to help reduce odour (sorry, not sure)?
KitKat
I only wash my GSD's every few months...tho they get a good brushing (more so when they are blowing coat) which keeps the doggy smell at bay. Good quality food (raw or dry) also seems to help keep the smell down. And yeah...if possible dry them off with a blow dryer...works wonders and gets them dry right down to the skin
KaiGSD&Cav
Thankyou so much for your replies, the place does have a blow dryer and I make sure he is quite dry. I use a rake as a grooming tool as it seems to get alot of coat out as well. I will base it on monthly and see how he goes, he is fed a mixture of rmb, food/table scraps and g/q dry. He also likes some tin cat food or the odd egg as well.
