Another Great Colin Webster Clinic

Recommended Posts

Well the Border Collie Club of Qld had their second Colin Webster Clinic this weekend and all I can say is WOW. Colin took us to the next step in his training program. And I can honestly say i have never seen Abigail work so well. I never realised how bad she was going until I saw how well she could go and to fix it was so easy. Just got to now put the work in and make it a habit for her.

We covered alot of material and at times the mind was boggling but it was well worth it. We covered Flight zones, reading the signs the sheep are giving, working on sides and decent reliable stop and most importantly Patience. We then went on to casts and most of the dogs did very well. We also increased the concentration span of the dogs and some went from 1 min concentration to 5 minutes.

Can't wait for Colin to come back next year in May for the next level.

Now to get on with the training and to make sure that I have accomplished my training plan we all had to submit by the end of the day.

Thanx Tracey for organising it & most especially thank you to Colin  for such a fabulous weekend, I can't believe how much I learnt. And I know that Eddie had a great time too & learnt a lot. So much stuff, I was still dreaming about herding last night  , as you said Tracey, now we just have to do the training & put in the effort. I'm so glad that Colin thought Jarrah had improved so much, as the saying goes, the proof of the pudding is in the eating & it's certainly proof that his methods work. As I said yesterday, it's hard to believe that Jarrah hadn't even seen sheep 4 months ago & now he's working so well :D .

I am looking forward to the next clinic already  .

Mr. Webster is a god :thanks::) .

Thanks Robyn I must admit I have learnt more in the last 2 days then I have in the 5 years i have been trying to train my dogs. Its so simple as well not rocket science at all. Makes you wonder why its taken this long to find someone that can actually teach and show us what we need to do.

I too can't wait for the next clinic its just a shame Colin doesn't live up here as he will only take a Maximun of 10 dogs so that each person gets enough sheep time. we worked it out and we reckon each dog got 3 hours on the sheep which isn't too bad considering there was 10 dogs

Yep that would be about right, maybe we could kidnap him & keep him up here when we have the next clinic, I wouldnt mind getting beaten at every trial if we had a chance to learn more off him  .

Anyway, lots of stuff to work on, Im looking forward to the next 6 months of hard slog cos I know it will be worth the wait :) .
