Rhi*Jak*Ed
Hi all, Well I'm a worried mum right now and whilst I needn't be, I can't help it. That's right, Jak goes in tomorrow to be desexed I'm not sad that she's getting desexed, just that she has to go through the procedure. I don't cope very well when pets aren't quite themselves (and I pass out at the sight of blood but that's a whole other story!), so I think I'm also very worried about how I'm going to cope, not just her lol. Silly bugger. Anyway, I'm sure she'll be fine. I've actually been sick for the past week and was at home in bed for 3 days. She soon realised that things were VERY different from normal and decided that laying on the bed next to me was the best place for her to be. I've never seen her so inactive In a way, I'm thinking this might be good preparation for when I pick her up on Saturday morning. She will have recognised that when I'm laying in bed, she needs to rest also. Hmm. Rhi the worry wart and Jak the brave petal

Rhi*Jak*Ed
Thanks guys :-) I can't help but worry. She's my little girl afterall... The quality time will be good, we've had a lot of that this week and I've noticed quite a difference in her actually, not as fiercely independent and more willing to be gentle with me haha. pie
Glad to hear she's being affectionate to you! Those Terriers sure can be independent, don't we all know that! Of course you are worried, naturally! She'll be fine!!
weisnjac
Just think, she is going to love the extra special attention she receives when she gets home :D Try not to worry to much, I'm sure she will be fine. Do let us know how she goes though

Rhi*Jak*Ed
Hi guys, Well she's there :-( She hurt her little leg at daycare on Tuesday and has been a bit proppy since and occasionally she'll jump down off say the couch or the bed and give a little yelp. Well, I think her harness must have been pinching at her leg so when we arrived at the vets she yelped a treat and wouldn't put her front leg down... That made me feel even worse than I already did. I cried all the way in to work. I don't know why this is upsetting me so much, and its certainly not the fact that she's being desexed. Must be the surgery part and knowing that she's not going to be herself afterwards (recovery wise) and that I need to look after her. I've never been good at that sort of stuff, and I hate it just when she's got a sore leg! Anyway, am at work now so will keep busy. I can ring any time after 3 to check in on her. Have set a reminder for 3.01 lol.
deltron
Well, she's at the right place if she has a sore leg. Good idea getting her done on a Friday - so you have all weekend to keep an eye on her. It's nice that you can pick her up the same day. I hope the time flies for you
Rhi*Jak*Ed
She's actually there overnight tonight, I don't pick her up until tomorrow. They keep the girls overnight but the boys can go home the same day... Yes we will spend the whole weekend together on a mattress on the lounge room floor. She loves watching movies so I'm off to my parents' place after work to stock up - they have a huge collection haha.

How sexist I would also be unhappy at having to leave my pup at the vets overnight. She will be VERY happy to see you tomorrow. How you two have fun watching movies together
Rhi*Jak*Ed
haha yes we will... hopefully! I don't mind that she's there overnight, if it helps with her recovery then great :-) I think we'll both be equally as excited to see each other tomorrow morning. I miss her already! Rhi*Jak*Ed
Well of course as soon as the clock ticked over to 3.01 I was on the phone and ringing the vet to check on my little girl... She's fine. WOOHOO! Mind you, the net nurse asked me if I had given her something to eat this morning and I said no, had removed her pigs ears and bones as well. It turns out she'd eaten something "brown" which caused her to vomit when coming out of the anaesthetic. I mentioned that she eats her own poo. That must have been it lol. Yucko. Anyway, she's asleep now... Bring on tomorrow! Edited July 27, 2007 by Rhi & Jak

Rhi*Jak*Ed
Thanks guys I got home around 7 tonight after having stocked up on dvd's at my mum and dad's place... And I've only JUST finished cleaning. I had to vaccuum, wash the floors etc ready for Jak's return home tomorrow. I'm now just waiting for the floors to dry... then I can put the mattress down and get all that set up. Then I'm done and I can crawl into bed! Oh, the bourbons have helped Whilst I have enjoyed my night alone, I miss Jakko like crazy - it's just not the same without her here latching on to my pants and barking in my face for attention. Ahhhh gotta love em

Sarah L
Hi there, I was reading this thread on your puppy being desexed, I know it is a big worry for you. The desexing of a female is more invasive than a male and the vet is quite right to keep her overnight. She will get lots of cuddles from the nurses, I know this because I used to do the same when I worked as a nurse. She will sleep most of the time. I know you realise this and are excited about getting her home. It gave me great joy when I saw loving owners so exicited to get there puppy's home again. Tell us what they said about her leg. Did the day care mention how it happened? Please be careful on giving your puppy negative energy. I know its hard for a loving and caring owner who worries. The point I am interested in is the eating of her own poo. Two reason that cause this are either dietary insufficiency or stress related symptoms. What I mean is maybe the poo eating is a result of some of the things you do or display to your puppy. From what I have read and not knowing what you feed your pup then I would be interested in knowing some more. Also does your day care have web cam access, I think this is a great idea for day cares to have this facility. Something is niggling me about the behaviour of your puppy and I would love to find out more of her day to day life. Anyway by the time you read this she will be home with you. Keep her as quite as possible for the first 24 hours and feed lightly for the first evening. Resume normal feed the next morning. Good luck Edited July 28, 2007 by pinnacle dts
