Ok....my bad teenage kelpie has struck again.

He turned 7 months old yestuday.......and decided that he would choose that day to pee on all the other dog's things.

Peed on their leads and collars (dragged them onto the floor and peed on them) - but not his

Peed on 2 of the dogs beds

Peed in all 4 dog bowls and in the water bowl (go figure that)

And then

Peed on the border collie while he was asleep

What is going on?

I know he has been acting a brat lately but this is the cake....

What should I do?

He is sent marking territory, sounds like your dogs are having pecking order dispute. If he has been losing this dispute then this type of behaviour can occur. Have they been having any fights between them selves? If so what have you done at this time? This type of urinating can also be a sign of stress. Mabe your idea of which dog should be top dog is different to theirs. Did he do this when you were there or when you were out? What did you do when you found out he had done this?

Can you tell me also what type of corrections you have been using on him when he has been naughty.

I know he has been acting a brat lately but this is the cake....

What exactly has he been a brat.... about?

More info needed please. :(

He has been brat......see this thread

There has been slight grumblings in the pack order but the lab is still the boss......controls them with just "a look" and even when Anzac is playing zoomies, he won't go near him but is happy to run into the other dogs and bite them. I stay out of the dogs heirachy and let them sort it out....

The dog that he peed on, used to be No 2 but I think the kelpie now is.....if Anzac jumps on the dog couch the border collie gets off.

But maybe you are right and he is feeling insecure as another pup came home a week ago. The new pup is the same age but has been delegated the bottom of the order....makes me feel bad that I got mad at him....and he may have been feeling insecure.

I caught him doing it every time last night.....the old "when it goes quiet he is up to something"......I growled at him, tried time out which just hyped him up more and the last time I caught him I was a mean mum and smacked him on the bum. (waiting for the flaming)........that stopped him, think it shocked him more than anything (sure did hurt my hand a lot more than it did him)......I have only ever growled at him before...and the rest of the night he lay with the lab and went to sleep.

I feel bad it got to that point and thats why I am asking for some help!

I did finish the night on a positive and made him do some obedience to work for a treat....

It's ok you won't get flaming from me, it's just a big waist of time and energy.

Can't look at the dol thread on his bad behaviour it said the link was out of date or broken.

With the new pup coming in then that's whats upset the apple cart. I am hoping the grumblings don't turn into some thing more, desexing will help but wont' cure the problem. Do you think your dogs definitely see you as the top dog of them all?

As I can't get to the thread can you give me more info on his naughty behaviour and what you have tried to do to fix it. Honestly smacking and growling won't work. This is not meant directly to you but when I hear of or see people growling at their dogs it has me  . This is not your normal tone of voice the dog hears every day. It is far better to imply a threat with your voice than carry it out by growling. What I mean is very quite, low, and serious talk works far better sometimes. Then the dog can quite easily differentiate when you are happy(talking normally) or upset with something they have done.(low, quite and serious)

If your two older dogs are well trained then it's the two new ones who need your work and attention. This is why I need more info. Including feeding, exercise, play and what training you are doing with them at the moment. Also do you treat all your dogs the same or do you display favoritism with one or two of them.

Oh love

My dog weed on me at training 2 weeks ago. Right up my leg :D What the ?

I am assuming it was cos the female dalmation he was next to weed, and kicked it on him, so he just lifted his leg and it happened to get me, all over my boot and jeans. Nice !! Not to mention I have been the laughing stock for the last 2 weeks !

Desexing helped my x boy within 2 weeks, but I know it can take some dogs longer.

I dont envy you

 He just bought the lot, he owns everything, they are his now even the BC is his property.

Yep, good on you s~m~s, join the club. I'm still reminded of it every week :thanks:

Vinnie has weed on me too. When we first bought Cooper home as a pup, he was standing in between my legs, and Vinnie lifted his leg and weed on me.

Oh well, at least all of the other dogs know that I'm taken :worship: I just think of myself as an extra special mum.

Well he is now trying to mark everything in the house....even lifting his leg on the walls.

Although none of my stuff or me....(he peed on OH's pillows - dragged em off the bed and "claimed" them)

So tomorrow, Friday Aug 3, he is off to the vet for a snip snip!!

Is 7 months adolescence? If so, go for another round of training and socialisation- dog will test the boundaries and you need to he needs you to set them. Positive rewards (treats, praise) will be more successful.

Yeah, hitting him on the bum probably made you feel better but will only teach the dog that you're a scary person to be avoided.

Desexing might help, but it's not a cure-all.

You still need to teach- train and I wouldn't allow him access to the house unless you can supervise 100%. If caught in the act, it's a firm, "no" and put outside and ignored for about 10 minutes (or until you calm down).
