poodlefan
If I want the dog to drive out of an obstacle (like weavers) I throw the ball or treat. If I want the dog to stop I either place it on a bait plate or give it from hand.
Kelpie-i
I will sometimes throw the food, depending on what I'm doing. I'm teaching my boy leg weaves and found it useful to throw the food through my legs for him to get it. Once the beginnings of the behaviour was established I stopped throwing and started giving the treat from my hand. I found throwing the food on the ground initially helped establish the hand signal. I seem to be always choppings stuff into smal squares, does anyone have some kind of a food processor that will do nice little squares? Myszka, have you tried those onion chopping things, you know the cylindrical type with the knob at the top that you push down. It may chop the food up a little too small but I'm sure if you were careful you'd get some good size pieces.

Working Dog Lover
Great idea re the onion chopper!! They do chop little squares but you could get a bigger piece if you wanted by using a thicker slice of devon. I'm going to try one too!! Thanks for the suggestions :-) Love the grass idea too, hehe Audrey
BC
I think the treats in the purple bag were 4Legs ones? I haven't seen them for a while. Yep, thats it, 4Legs. http://www.4legs.com.au/doggycool.php
J...
I found the Doggy Cool treats fantastic, but the supermarket here no longer stocks them. I emailed the company who said I could get them direct but no more through supermarkets. Now I use cabana or fat free frankfurts so I'm back to chopping before class I use raw steak for high level stuff and thats very popular
