Time in Rescue: A couple of years on DOL, spent a lot of years rescuing cats (and a few dogs) before I was aware that there even was such a thing as organised rescue. I'm not really a rescuer though, I only take a very occasional dog. I've given forever homes to a few rescues though. Who can vouch for: Um. Perhaps lilli from Anatolian Rescue, I had one of her dogs on long-term foster and she's been to my home a couple of times. Preferred Breed: I like the big guys, especially the mastiffs, but I have a soft spot for working dogs as well. Experience (if any): Nothing special, just a lot of years caring for my own and rescued animals. Microchip: Yes Vaccination: Yes Desexing: Yes Heartworm test: not generally, I'm not in a high risk area. worming: Yes, if I think it's needed, I try not to use too many "chemicals" in my animals. flea treatment: Yes, but as above. Advantage/Capstar/flea shampoo vet work if required: Of course basic training/teach manners. Yes house train dogs: Yes Dogs inside the home or outside. Both. Generally outside in a secure run during the day, and then inside or crated (but separated from my own dogs, which requires some juggling) at night. Are you prepared to give extra care for a submissive nervous dog. Yes, if necessary, but I don't take on many dogs. pikespooches
Ahhh found it Name:Robyn Age (optional):40+ Location: Riverina NSW Rescue Group: Riverina Animals Rscue and PnH Time in Rescue:15 months Who can vouch for:PnH carers, ARF carers ,CC Ruth, ADR Trish, Beth2, My Vet Temora Veterinary Practice, and Local Rangers. Adoptive owners like LilLibby, Nytywnd. Have not met many face to face due to distance Preferred Breed: cuties Experience (if any): Animal lover all my life, the only true friends and family I think I have really had!!! I accidentally fell into rescue when I was handed a litter of day old puppies. I was very concerned for their welfare once they were of rehomable age, I didn't want to give them back to the pound. They were my babies and not everyone, very few would have been good enough for them. I didn't want them to be abuse or exploited.I contacted a few rescues for advice and Pawsnhooves took me and the puppies on. By the time they had rehomed I had experienced happiness and heartache, joy and tears. But the house seemed empty so I became addicted to helping other animals. I have travelled thousands of KM to rehome or transport for other groups. I regularly transport from country pounds to other rescue groups at least part way. Late last year it was suggested by a friend to have my own website to highlight the fact that I rescue and foster in the country as most of my enquiries came from the sities and they didn't realize where I was situated. Thus RAR was born. I joined DOL 12 months ago and have interacted with many on here. I can vouch for just as many. I have rehomed either myself hundreds of dogs as I usually help the younger ones and seldom does a puppy come in alone, more like in a swarm. Equally other groups have also helped just as many from out here as well, Particularly ARF,DHC, PnH. Sorry if I have missed someone! I have also fostered and rehomed a few kittens. I travel a 300km round trip just to visit my rescue vet to have animals checked, treated for ailments, vaccinated and desexed. All before rehoming. I have a relatively good relationship with them and could not rescue without them. I can also rely on my local vet to handle mature dogs. I will not and do not rehome a dog that has aggression issues that I am aware of. I will not bring into my home a dog that would place my family at risk. I have at times had to make hard decisions in regard to this and or health reasons. I am a mum with a husband that is rescued out, three kids three dogs two galahs a pony and a few spiders in the cobwebs that I have collected since I have been in rescue. And a part time cat!!! I can vouch for so many on here from personal experience, and dealings. ARF carers PnH carers, DCH carers, Trisven, Nytwynd, Coolibah Coolies, Beth2, and Alanglen and quite a few others that I am not sure who they belong to. Also SWAY for saving my little friend Trevor from a possible wrong home. Sorry if I forgot anyone!!! I have had a big week
