Guest Piximatosis
Holly & I started obedience training at Blacktown Kennel and Training Club in June. We had already done training at home, and when I adopted Holly at nearly 3 years old she already knew the basics anyway, so it wasn't hugely new for her, just a matter of fine-tuning what she already knew and teaching her things like stand for exam, which she didn't know. Anyway - The first week we were promoted from 1st class (white) to 2nd class (orange) The second week we were promoted from 2nd class (orange) to 3rd class (green) The third week, Holly had escaped from her run and spent all day busily eating garbage so worked like a slug - we weren't promoted, but we got the "Bone Award" which puts you in the running for handler of the month - the instructors give one out to one person from each class every night. Her stand for exam was also quite useless, she kept soliciting the instructor for cuddles. So we practiced stand for exam like mad all week and before class got another instructor to help us practice again, AND - The fourth week (last night) we were promoted from 3rd class (green) to 4th class (blue)! We are now in the second highest class (there's 5 all up) and I am so very proud of her! She also held an offlead drop-stay with me roughly 3 or 4m away even when another dog got up and stood over her sniffing her face. She is such a good girl and I had to share. Guest Piximatosis
Thanks guys! ( Caff) We got "in trouble" once when the instructor asked us to finish our dogs after a recall but I'd already released Holly, and was too busy ruffling her fur and getting my face licked to hear

Guest Piximatosis
Just a quick update - Holly & I were promoted again on Tuesday and we are now in the highest class. After this (although this one is obviously much harder to move up from) it becomes advanced/trialling class which runs for an hour after the classes we're currently in. She did a wonderful stand for exam offlead with me standing roughly a metre in front of her - I was incredibly proud of her for that as only a matter of weeks ago she was really struggling to understand the concept. She is a good girl.
