Dancing With Dogs

Recommended Posts

There will be a workshop for all levels of experience (Novice to Competitor) on Saturday, 11th August, 10 - 3pm. Cost will be $25, morning tea provided. It will be held at the Canine Complex Rotunda, 44 Luddenham Road, Erskine Park.

I keep seeing people looking for a way to get started in this wonderful sport so now here is your opportunity.

If you are interested you should RSVP by 1st August to:

[email protected]

Loretta would be pleased to hear from you as she is doing such a lot to get this up and running. So many of us have "dabbled" in doggy dancing and it would be really wonderful to see Canine Freestyle gaining acceptance as a dog sport.

Please tell me what you think.

Noels.

Hope that heaps of people come along Noels, Im sure lots of people don't realise what fun it is & how much the dogs enjoy it  .

We'll be away in Darwin that weekend, but good luck with it, when are we going to see your 1st routine?

I'm really interested as I have a Cavalier who has HD so we can't do agility. She has basic obedience and loves doing tricks. Would we have the basics for Dancing with Dogs? I think the only thing that would hold her back is me  Can you use a clicker when training? My girl reacts really well to them. I have almost taught her to "play dead" in about an hour today

I'll answer this one until MrsDog comes back and corrects me! Basic obedience and tricks are a good start, as it is my understanding that these are the starting point. I believe Loretta sometimes uses a clicker when training (or that could be MrsDog!) It's a heap of fun, too.

Yep, basic obedience and tricks are good, also clickers.

You will have such a good time, but watch out - this doggy dancing thing is addictive.

Loretta also takes a class on Wednesday evenings, 6.30pm, at Sutherland Shire Dog Training, Waratah Park, Sutherland, if anyone is in the area. This will only cost you $3. Of course you would need to be a member of the club, and that is a $25 once off joining fee.

Not just now, but hopefully SOON there will be somewhere near you. Might even find that you meet someone on 11th August.

The workshop is a great place to get started. Everyone is so helpful and it doesn't matter what your level of competence is.

Don't forget to email Loretta so they have some idea of numbers.

Loretta is away this week, back Sunday, so you will hear from her early next week.

The big surprise with doggy dancing is that it improves other aspects of your dog training. I guess it is because we are more relaxed and having a good time. After all, our stuff-ups are just something to laugh about. It is amazing how fast the dogs catch on. Always did think my dog was smarter than me!
