Revolution / Canex Combination

 Share

Recommended Posts

The pet store reccommended Revolution (purple) for fleas. It comes with Canex tablexts for worms which seems to do a large variety of worms. Does anyone use this combination? Has it been effective?

I am thinking about supplementing his worming treatment with Dimmitrol daily for heartworms, and perhaps a 3 month tapeworm treatment. Is this overkill? Any help would be appreciated. I have a little 14 week old.

Revolution is heartworm preventative as well as a flea product.

The Canex tablets are an intestinal wormer that includes cover against tapeworm, so you would not need either the Dimmitrol or an additional tapewormer.

yep i've used it with no problems! i've got a black cat and didn't realise she had fleas (shes not very cuddley) until i got ted (hes white) and saw them on him. wasn't very good but got some revolution from the vet and hey-presto no more fleas  worked very quickly too, i gave him a bath the next day and there were so many dead fleas  was kinda gross but we've never had a problem since

I use Milbemax.

Used three monthly it controls :-

roundworm

whipworm

hookworm &

tapeworm

If you give it monthly it also is a heartworm preventative.

You may have trouble finding Vet's who stock it, I buy it by the box (50) tabs from my Vet. They don't stock it but order it for me & I pay wholesale. It works out to be $6.50 tablet this way.

The best thing about this treatment is that you give 1 tablet for 5-25kgs.

I use advantage when I need to, which luckily for me is not very often. I wash my dogs every week & use Fido's free itch rinse, I haven't had to use any other flea treatment for the past 3 years.

Hope this helps.

I use Revolution (heartworm prevention & fleas) and Canex combination and love it. I particularly like the fact that Revolution will kill adult fleas on a dog - not all other heartworm/flea combinations do this - some just make the fleas sterile to stop the breeding cycle.

Thanks everyone. I have done so much research. Everyone seems to love Sentinel but I think it may be because the brand is pushed by vets, as Revolution / Canex or Advocate seems to do everything. No need to supplement with tapeworm or heartworm. I thought perhaps Revolution and Advocate may not work well so thats why people were using alternative multi-combo mixes. I know that Revolution is a invertim ? derivative and Collies cant use it.

I ran into an owner who said that they give a tablet of Dimmitrol a day and their dog is 15 years old and looks like it is 3. Out lived all other dogs the family knows. My vet says is it is a liver cleanser which would explain the anti-oxidant properties. It looks incredibley cheap so I am going to supplement with Dimmitrol. Not keen on dealing with heartworms for such a small daily effort.

Thanks everyone for the input!
