Freckles
Jules you can also try this open a photo(i pinched one of Karma sorry :D ) then make a copy, when the copy pops up click Ctrl+U (this should make the pic black and white). The to the copy add a mask (the little box with a dot in it on the layers) select a brush and black paint and paint what you want shown in colour. julesluvscavs
Freckles , i'm sort of attempting it now when i pressed the ctl+u , it didn't automatically go black and white but brought up a box with hues, saturation etc, so i played around with those settings till it went black and white but obliviously (sp?) i still need to get the 'right' shade of black and white ..(im just doing it quickly atm, so i can understand what you mean:) ) now where you say 'black' paint, what does that actually mean? do i just use the brush tool and go click over the eyes with it to bring the colour out? Do i need to do anything else to make them brighter (eyes) ? or do i leave it how it shows up? thanks for your help ! it seems heaps easier than the way my husband has been showing me !!! :D Edited June 27, 2007 by Jules loves Joey and Renae
Freckles
opps sorry forgot you have to still change the saturation setting. I simple slide the saturation level all the way left to take out all colour. The black paint, see the two colour boxs on the left side of the pic, one black and one's white. Make sure the black box is on top and as you paint the picture the colour underneath will apear. If you are happy with the colour in your original picture that is how it will show up in the B/W pic

Thanks again Edited June 27, 2007 by Jules loves Joey and Renae

Freckles
Jules if there is a similar feature on the bird as what has been covered you could try the clone tool
