I will email you something over the weekend....

Thank you :)

I've been getting some more responses from people recently and the extra contributions are very much greatfully received and added to the main submission. :D

At the risk of me becoming monotonous, here's another *bump*. ;)

Petitions are coming in and I thank you for that. For those who know and understand the virtues of a PPCollar, I really need you to pass the link to the Petition/s (remember, there are two - one for Victorian residents' use, the other for those residing outside of Victoria) to as many people as you think would be interested and willing to help the cause outlined in this thread. Refer post #175 for the petition link. It's only a matter of a couple of clicks of a computer button and perhaps a conversation here and there with the people you know ;) .

Please keep the momentum going and thanks for your efforts so far  .

Charli73 .... haven't received your submission yet :( . Although with Easter coming early this year if you're like me, it has thrown timing out of whack :).

To readers in general : I've been working on this for coming up to one year now. Time really is drawing to a close and NOW is the time to put acts into gear if you really believe in the worth of the PPCollar and wish to see Victorian regulation changed ................ regardless of whether you live here or not.

:( in anticipation of a flood of emails and petitions :( .

Hi everyone :)

This is another ad nauseam albeit unashamed *bump* for this thread.

These last 8 weeks are really, really crucial to the plight and plea to Government for the change in regulation.

The more submissions and the more petition responses the better - NOW is the time to respond, if you were ever thinking of doing so. Please don't be complacent. It needs YOU to get it over the line :p.

So much work has gone into the submission already, and the information that has been found in relation to the grave error that has been made here in Victoria to ban the use of the PPCollar leaves me a bit speechless (bet you never thought THAT would be possible :D). It only serves to strengthen my resolve towards throwing in every effort to making the over-all submission as convincing as is possible.

But I need you. I need you ALL. It is the ALL OF YOU that will make the difference. :)

If anyone has thought to compile a submission supporting the request for change of regulation but is concerned about how to word it - don't worry. It can simply be addressed to "WHOM IT MAY CONCERN" and does not have to present with any fancy dog training jargon or terms. Just your own words - that's the best. What you think, what you've seen, what you've experienced (in terms of how much improvement has been able to have been achieved with the use of the PPCollar).

Naturally, Victorian residents can only re-count for what they've seen in the past, given that they have not been allowed to use the PPCollar since the inception of the ban in 2004. However, stories (factual of course) of perhaps what you've seen and how much better the dog might have faired had the PPCollar been permitted for use, is still relevant.

You only need to email your submissions to [email protected]

If it really doesn't make sense, I'll write back to you and ask you what you mean :).

I'm sure there are more people out there with comments and thoughts of their own. They don't have to be dog trainers - professional or otherwise. After all - you are ALL voters. You all have a right to contribute towards something you believe is right.

Erny steps down off the soap-box yet again ...... but not for the last time :)

Yes - the submission is still very much alive and well .

Numbers is what will continue to give this mission strength and to this end, I refer you to the post above and to post #175 in which I included THIS link from which you can access the petition/s. EVERY signature counts guys and it would be a boon if you would send the link around to everyone in your email address book whom you think might have an interest in signing it.

Please note that there are moves afoot by other organisation/s to encourage Governments to disallow the PPCollar (aka "pinch" or "prong" collar) AUSTRALIA-WIDE. Your efforts now, although for Victoria, will assist for the State in which YOU live should the need become critical.

Hugh Wirth of the RSPCA is seeking standard laws on a national basis. What has (and continues to) occured in Victoria is certainly not unlikely to occur in your home State.

Please don't be complacent. That's what others are relying on you being.

Cheers!

Erny

So we send it to the address on the bottom of that linked page? I don't have access to a printer but OH might be able to print it out for me. Wouldn't get many signatures on it though, I don't talk to people

Can Kovu sign it?

Yes thanks, Shekhina - to that address.

Even one signature to the page is one more extra .

Unfortunately I don't think the Government would take kindly to Kovu's signature .

More's the pity, though.

Make sure you print off the petition relative to where you live (ie either in Victoria, or Interstate)

Further development to this campaign includes a Letter to MP's Australia-wide. I've done the letter because I know there are many people who are time-poor and/or loathe to letter writing. The link to the letter can be found at

doglaws.blogspot.com

Please visit this site (which also gives links to petition/s), click the link to bring up the letter. Insert your own details and the name and address of your own local MP. Print off the letter, sign it off and post it (snail mail). Please keep a copy of your letter that you've sent for record's sake.

A push has occurred Australia-wide by at least one org expressing its disapproval of this collar - I am sure they would like to see the collar banned in all other States of Australia, so THIS AFFECTS YOU ! Please don't be complacent and think "the next person will do it". Please pass the link address to the blogspot and ask your friends and family who might be interested in signing the letter to do so.

You have a voice. This campaign needs you to use it.

This is an "Australia-Wide" matter. Not just Victorian.

I'll be working on the blogsite further and will try to add in a link to MP addresses. In the meantime, if you're struggling to find yours, please either contact me by email (my PM box is full and I haven't had a chance to clear it) or post up here, so others including myself can help you out :o.

Thanks for the continued support and drive. This IS your campaign :).

Cheers!

Erny

ETA : It would be helpful if each and everyone can email me at [email protected] simply informing me that they've sent the letter off and to which MP. Not mandatory, mind .... just helpful :)

:p Thanks guys.

To everyone : We have approximately 12 weeks to get this "over the line" even though documentation suggests the regulation should not have been allowed to have been passed in the first place.

It is now classed as "super urgent" - please don't delay getting the letters out and petitions in.

NEWS FLASH

"Chinese Whispers" has it that Hugh Wirth of RSPCA has now actively taken steps and consulted with Government in the ACT (Canberra) with a view to bringing dog-laws into line on a National basis.

I guess this would be easier for him, rather than picking off one State at a time.

Point is people - those who DON'T wish to see restrictions and/or bans imposed in relation to things such as training tools .... or for that matter, rules on breeding (as per Victoria) etc., NOW is the time to let your voices be heard. Going by experience, you DON'T want to leave this until you're notified that it is a liklihood .... by then it will be (a) very difficult to gather the support and info you need to lodge your objections in the time frame given and (b) likely to be a foregone conclusion.

It will happen though, if people are complacent and think that it won't.

This is what will be relied upon.

What still needs to be done? I don't remember if I sent you anything

LOL ..... it's ok Kavik, busy lives dictate that we can't remember everything . I can't tell if you sent me anything either ..... I'd need you to email me with your real name so I can "connect the dots" so to speak.

You could also visit doglaws.blogspot.com and click on the links for :

  1. The Letter to MP's Australia-Wide (adapt it to suit); and
  2. The Petitions

And issue them as appropriate (Original petition sheets need to be posted *snail mail* to the address given on the foot of the form).

All of this is VERY much needed for what I am presently doing.

BUT, this is not just about the PPCollar issue here in Victoria!

It is more than that and I posted the above to alert all and everybody Australia-wide about what is going on and the liklihood that it is going to affect you. Write to your MP's. Write to your Ministers. Be vocal! Let them know you oppose the imposition of these sorts of restrictions. Let them see they are affecting the very people who they hope for votes from. Let them know this BEFORE they've already concluded that restrictions will be imposed, regardless.

Be pro-active rather than reactive. It is what we need to be if we are to be given any chance to be heard. And there needs to be lots of people .... not just a small number. And you don't need to be great letter writers. You just need to let your Govt know how many people oppose the potential for imposition that might occur should Hugh Wirth have his way in regulating in line on a National basis.

Spread the news and motivate others into action. Don't just let it be restricted to DOL members.

Don't be afraid to stand up for what you think and believe in.
