Herding Clinic 28th & 29th July 2007

Clinician - Mr Colin Webster

This will be the Second Clinic Colin has done this year and Spots will only be available to people that attended his first Clinic or who have attended some training days using Colins methods. We will be having a few more at Durack before Colin comes up so still possible to get some intial training in and attend his clinic.

The reason for doing this is so that the people can progress to the next stage in training and are not held back by having to start handler and dogs from the beginning.

Costs

$65 a day plus $5 sheep fee

Limit to 10 Dogs per day (Preference will be given to people that attend both days

For more Information or Booking please contact Tracey Lamb [email protected]

Clinic is open to all breeds as per the ANKC Herding Rules

Clinic will be held at CCCQ Show Grounds Kings Ave Durack

Trial

A little about Colin

Colin began his life in the dog world in Obedience with German Shepherd Dogs where he competed and won in Novice & Open (CDX) levels. He was Chief Instructor of the Bathurst Obedience Club for 7 years.

In 1980 Colin’s interests began to focus on working sheepdogs. He obtained an Australian Working Kelpie and began in Utility trials where he won his first trial he ever competed in! From there he very quickly became a well-known and much respected competitor.

Colin’s highlights in his 3 sheep trial career are Winner of the Australia open in 1991 & Winner in the Supreme Improver’s Tasmania 2005. Colin has won in 3 sheep trials, over 50 Open, 70 Novice, 30 Improvers & in his humble beginnings over 30 yard dog trails. A regular top 10 finalist, Mr. Webster is also a very conversant and knowledgeable teacher of stockmanship & working dogs of all breeds.

Colin has been an Open three sheep judge for 20 years. His highlights in his judging career include the Commonwealth championships & 10 state championships.

He was the head stockman for Woolmark at the last Olympic Games held in Sydney, Australia where he trained “Eroll’ the Olympic Ram and all dogs seen in commercials relating to Eroll were trained by Colin. Colin’s talents as an animal trainer also include 2 movies & 2 mini series (Jessica) of which he was head Wrangler of 3500 animals. Colin has been involved with the making of over 200 commercials, where he was in charge of and trained a number of different types of animals including cows, ducks, goats, sheep & chickens with one of the better known adds being the Home Loans Ram (Raymond the ram).

Some 12 months ago Colin became interested in ANKC herding and began training the Border Collie Club of NSW Inc, where his students have excelled in the sport from his guidance. To further his understanding of our ANKC sport he has also began to trial his own dogs, and to date has competed in 2 ANKC trials and has won High in Trail each time.

Colin’s positive training methods work for all breeds of working dogs and are not restricted to one breed, he breaks in over 10 dogs per year, and he has all varieties of ANKC working dogs coming to his classes.

I honestly think she is going well enough at this stage but with more improvement she will be able to do alot more of the exercises Colin will be giving us.
