Royal Canin

Recommended Posts

I use Royal Canin for my pup and the Labrador adult one for my older girl.

They have the breed specific which is why i like it.

Also, Kaiser is sensitive to certain foods, noticably corn in dog food which will cause diarrhoea.

I've had no problems with it.

Both my dogs look great and are healthy. Kaiser is growing well.

I do sometimes add things like sardines, eggs and chicken wings/frames too for variety.

One vote for indifferent.

I tried it with Duke for a few months (3 of the 17kg bags) and it made no discernable difference to feeding him SuperCoat. Felt therefore it wasn't worth the money. I've evaluated the ingredients using the DogFoodProject criteria and it was quite good but corn based (looking at Giant Adult, Medium Puppy and Medium Active types).

I have just started feeding RC to harvey, actually just finished the first bag this morning. He seems to really like it! Like really really likes it... I only got it because the pet supply place only had Nutrience derma which for some reason he hates (likes holistic). He woofs this stuff down, will be picking more up this afternoon. Can't think of the one i got for him as i store dry food in tub. Small breed active or something..

Too much corn for my guys, but my sister in law swears by it, uses the poodle food, her babies wont eat anything else and Tara was losing weight there for a while from just not eating. now both dogs doing great :(

Stevie started with RC large breed puppy, that's what we were told she was weaned onto, and haven't seen any reason to change except to move across to Lab Adult when she was about 15 months. She actually lost weight when we moved to the adult version, we were able to increase the amount she eats (to her great pleasure). Because it's easier than buying and storing two types of food, we also feed Jodie the Kelpie X on it. When we got Jodie as a foster, she had been on tinned and basic food for some months, and the difference in her appearance now is amazing.

They are both shiny glowing healthy dogs who get lots of compliments.

I'd rather have an Australian food premium dry or to have time and knowledge to do BARF (or money to do BARF patties), but otherwise it's been great.

I was recently informed that the Lab Adult food is formulated to combat the Lab metabolism. There's no 'lite' option for the adult Lab kibble as it is already incorporated... Maybe that's why your dog lost some weight Stevie&Jodie??

I feed RC to my little dogs more than anything else. Sometimes they will get EP or Nutro for a week for something different every few months, But RC is my no 1 choice when it comes to dry kibble. All my dogs love it, The Coats on the Poms dont break, and are amazing I find on EP The coats can become slightly brittle. The IG's maintain a healthy weight on RC and Its the only kibble ALL the little dogs will eat. Even my fussy little black dog will eat it at the moment..

Im a RC Loyalty member, so I get discounts :(

I fed Jonty on it for ages as he didnt like Nutro, Advance or Supercoat (which the breeder had him on) very much. Small firm poos & he looked good - the reason that I changed was because I got some 4kg bags of Optimum given to us at a trial & I tried Jarrah on it & he looked fab!! So when we went away on holidays I decided to only take 1 type of food for Jonty & Jarrah & swapped Jonty over & kept him on it - they look a million dollars :mad .

I had no problems with RC & would feed it again if I for some reason couldnt get Optimum for my boys :( .

I've used Maxi Puppy, Maxi Junior, 4300, 4800, GSD and GSD Junior - all of which i've been very happy with and with good results - currently just trying other foods looking for a cheaper alternative due to buying a house.

But the way things have been going i may well be going back to either the GSD formula or the 4300 for my two GSD's.

Good reports here too - Cal has been on the mature small breed stuff for a few months and he happily chomps it down at dinner (has decided he doesn't eat breakfast anymore) and is looking great, with good poos etc. It is expensive but there is a buy 10 get one free card (is that what you're referring to roxie or something else?) which helps. And we don't have to feed him much - because he's not eating breakfast anymore it seems he's only eating half his recommended amount??? (its been like that for a couple of weeks now - we've been wondering about it though)

I dont really care where its from. As long as my dogs do well on it... Price, well, It can be expensive, no more expensive than EP or Nutro for that matter.. I buy 16kg every 3 months, and it lasts 8 poms and 3 Iggies quite well. My lot get Ziwipeak mixed with it too now, so it will last even longer.

I use the Lab one as well but only as a supplement to his normal diet. He gets about a cup in the morning every day.

It didnt upset him tummy (he threw up and had diarrhea whne he tried Eukanuba but he was fine with RC. I find his fur softer since I have added it to his diet and it has helped keep his weight on. His poos are good, no change from before it was added to his diet.

I buy a 3 kg bag for $23 which is not too bad at all.

I feed RC to two of the dogs, they love it and do exceptionally well on it. I much prefer it to what they were on before (Optimum). Even our cat tries to eat the dog's food

Cherry our littlely refused to eat dry food for 8 years - we tried her on Nutro, Optimum and others and RC is the only one she will eat... fussy little bugger! ;)
