Question About Crate Training.

I'm hopefully getting aanoter puppy in August(fingers crossed)

We didn't crate train Charlie and he is nearly 7 months old.

We want to do crate training with the new pup and Charlie.

my questions is:

Should i try and crate train Charlie before we get the puppy or train them at the same time?

I do not know the 'right' answer but if I was you I would crate train Charlie first.

I crate trained my new puppy (that was a couple of years ago). A few months ago I crate trained my 6 year old kelpie. I love crate training - its so wonderful.

With our crates, I throw a rug over each crate and call their crate their dens. Its perfect. My dogs love their dens.

Yep, first dog first. The pup will keep you busy come August.

We were in a similar situation and crate trained our first dog first - the new pup will take his/her cues from the older dog and make it that much easier. (worked for us any way.)

How do you crate train? . Ive never done it, our pup is 5 months old and after reading some of the threads I think it may be a good idea. Im sure alot of you are very familiar with it and probably sick of talking about it, :D so is there is a link someone can direct me to ?
