  1. What about a bedlington terrier Blab? Mine are great little/medium dogs. My boy is a lot bigger than my bitch. And no you don't have to clip them like when they are shown. I groom mine myself in what I call a pet clip. So much shorter than when shown.
  2. I fostered a cc a couple of years ago. He was divine and was adopted by a great lady. By the way Tommy the toy poodle I adopted off you is going well. Love him to pieces. He and Leo have become great mates and he is like Leo's little shadow. Charley well being a bitch she hates both the boys at times. Tommy takes it all in his stride. He has finally learned to eat out of his own bowl too these days. Took a long time though. And he is pretty well housetrained, though he can't hang on if we go out so he has a belly band or three on then.
  3. Yes I was also going to say worms. When I got my shepherd many years ago he had a seizure and it was due to him not being wormed as a baby by the breeder. He spent a couple of days at the vets and then all was okay.
  4. Pop it out the front with a For Sale sign on it. It will disappear in no time.
  5. Thank you all. It is very lonely for my sister and her family without their girl around.
  6. I used to have an English Springer Spaniel who at one stage looked like a cross work patch dog she had so many of those cysts removed. The only time I ever worried was when she would knock one and then it leaked until I had it removed. And the rest along with it. She had a couple of ops on them.
  7. My sisters staffy Chyna went to the bridge today. Go chase all the butterflies again Chyna you were one in a million. We will all miss you and your grey face.
  8. I can recommend Shayds coz they do have wonderful healthy puppies. Make sure though that you say that you want to neuter/spay said puppy.

    Whippet

My male bedlington is quite aloof with strangers. Wonder if that is the Whippet in him?
  10. On tv the other day there was a program on and it showed a staffy who was being adopted. Breed was said to be a miniature staffy. Wish I could remember the name of the show now. I turned it off when they said that. Too stupid for words.
  11. I had cuddles, I had cuddles :D
  12. You know it is funny but back in the old days I had a cocker spaniel cross. She lived mainly on canned Pal. I thought that was the best canned food. Also got a scraps/veges on occasion. Particularly if I was broke I would cook her up a stew of veges flavoured with vegemite. Lived to be nearly 16 years old and was always healthy.
  13. I had a small female cocker x who was about 14 when I got my male German Shepherd puppy. They only had one fight and it was over food and I broke it up before it got too out of hand. After the cocker passed we got a female dobe puppy. The shepherd was in love and never ever did anything to her. He was always a real gentleman. He has been gone many years now but of course I still miss him. So if the shepherd had a good temprement I would say it would be no problem.
  14. Wheatens and kerries, you know you want to! My family owned a Kerry and as cute as he was, he was a pain in the butt with other dogs. What are Wheatens like? I love the fact that our dogs are very friendly and can easily mix with any type of dog. Even if a little dog growls or has a go at our dog (either the male or the female), they just give them a wide berth. You could try Bedlington Terriers. Very good with other dogs. Charley (girl) does pretend to hate Tommy the toy poodle but it is all smoke and mirrors. Leo, Charley & Tommy are really all dog friendly and when we go to visit friends with dogs it is a big social event for them too. They have all had heaps of socialisation though which I think really helps.
  15. I am happy that Sheridan seems to have sorted her neighbourly problems. Totally of topic but: I often have children wanting to pat my dogs. I just make sure I point them in the direction of my girl beddie Charley or the toy poodle Tommy. I'm sure that Leo doesn't want strangers touching him and I never know how he would react to it. I am just keeping him safe.
  16. Yes I agree becks my old girl was an x show dog (hated the show) when I got her. In winter the coat would get really thick so as soon as the warmer weather came off came the coat. I had a really cheap set of blades and together we would sit on the kitchen floor where when I was finished I had enough fur to make another dog.
  17. Looks like my girl who is almost 5 and a half years is becoming incontinent. We have had a few issues lately whereby she is asleep and when gets up is all wet. It is not a daily occurance but it always seems to happen at night before bed. I have spoken to the vet and she can go on hormones but would like to hear from others about how their bitches are on hormones. Charley is a very moody dog, can get grumpy for no apparent reason and will tell off the boys just because she can..........
  18. I used to clip my English Springer Spaniel a couple of times a year. She did look very beautiful after it was done and it did not ruin her coat.
  19. I could only hazard a guess as to what my bedlington terriers would be doing if the neighbours had a trampoline next door and the kids were bouncing up and down. Leo especially would be going off his tree. And if I tried giving him treats to stop him it would not work. Once he get fixated that is it. We have a laneway next to us and Leo waits at about 4pm for the people to start walking down and then attacks the fence. We do try to get him back inside when he does it and the training is going slowly but he is beginning to listen. Our word to him is 'come'. But this has taken years to get him to this stage. I feel for you Sheridan and in your place I would be going and speaking to the neighbours. Gently if possible.
  20. I would say that he has probably got it all out of his system if he is happily chewing his bone now. If he is thirsty he will drink so as long as he has water close by and is able to go outside when he wants I would just keep a good eye on him now.
  21. Once upon a time I would have said I will never have a male dog. Well I now have two boys and a girl. She absolutely can do my head in. She is such a bitch at times actually most of the time. The boys are lovely, though the marking can also do my head in.
  22. Oh poor Danny and poor you with the worry MM. Sending Danny healing thoughts.
  23. Just came across this. So sorry to hear about Murray CF. Fly free Murray and go chase butterflies.
  24. Gosh I got my little one back in January and we still have toileting problems. But the poor little bloke had such an ordinary life up until now I no longer care, just try to catch as many as I can.
