One for the Roosters supporters Nah but seriously i've seen BYB 'rare' blue staffy/amstaffs on sale for $2000 !! you see it on those FB animals for sale pages, i don't even look at 'em anymore coz it just wastes my time. Bloody crazy !
-
Thanks :D that is such a nice compliment!! I love 'em to bits and its nice to see that people can see the beauty in their looks and especially in their personality as well ! BTs really do have the best, most gorgeous nature, you can't help but love them. You'll have to introduce your OH to Roxy and Harli ;) Thanks everyone for the compliments have to say, i totally agree with everyone (especially with Clyde in regards to the cat, you read that very well )

:D Thanks,i think shes pretty special! And yeah Roxy is soo good with her, she just takes whatever Harli throws at her Roxy has the best nature, i hope it rubs off on Harli. She does match the cat too never noticed until i took the photos, she has learnt already that the cat is boss ! Gotta say i got 2 pretty good ones

Hey, Thought i better get my act together and introduce my new bully girl Harli (Vogueabull Red Spirit) to the rest of the DOLers, she's been exclusive to the Bully people until now We picked her up on the 9th September, and she is the most gorgeous little thing! Growing very fast and Roxy just loves her to pieces First 2 pics are her at 7weeks, the next 2 photos were taken on Friday night with our cat Twyla. I've also put in a link to my FB bull terrier album, it has way more photos, (photobuckets playing up on me again!) and theres a video i uploaded to Youtube earlier today, picture quality is crap but i think its pretty cute and funny, took it just after i had given them a bath so they're having a good wrestle, oh and all the growling and barking you hear is Harli! Roxy doesn't know how to Hope you like :D ETA: heres 2 photos i wanted to put up last night but photobucket refused to cooperate, but got it working for me now. First pic was taken during her first week at home and the 2nd was taken about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I think its really cute !

I'm pretty sure she'll cop ranga and bloodnut as much as any redheaded mate would in a loving way of course ;) Purdie she's a solid red, solid generally means full coloured faces and little white on their body, usually just chest and feet. Solid reds have a bit of black masking around their faces as well . OH loves the colour, he's been wanting a solid red pup since we went to the first BT show! I prefer bullies with a bit more white, but i still think she is absolutly gorgeous!! I love a nice coloured (brindle/black or red) and white bully, but have a soft spot for the whites too. They're just like big polar bears Big soft cuddly white lumps My Mum has a white boy and he is gorgeous Edited for clarity as well ;)

Thanks for all the suggestions, my computer has been out of action for awhile and in that time we've narrowed it down to 2 names, Harli or Indi :D Plus i've got a new pic of the little lady, thought you might like a squiz before i send my computer off to the doctors tonight. Isn't she soo cute !?!?!

Thanks guys! Just came back from taking mydaughter to a party and we're on page 2!! Ilove Jarrah and had already suggested it to OH, might need to keep at him. And i love Rose and Ruby, but want to steer away from the 'R' names as we alredy have Roxy. I love Cyan too, i had a balck staffy when i was 15 and i called her Cyan, so can't use that again. I have suggsted Penny and Scarlett, Garnet, Jaffa, Saffron and Spirit, but not good enough for the OH I was actually thinking of the name Ally yesterday, but i hadn't suggested it ! We don't mind Trinity as well (her fathers name is Matrix) but it could be a tad too long. Keep 'em coming !!

My favourite pic!!

Hey! Can finally let the cat out of the bull terrier thread and announce we are getting another bully baby She is a solid red girl and we can't wait to bring her home!!! She is now 5weeks old! She is 'officially' my OHs dog and he doesn't want a sissy name. He likes Harley. I'm not so sure?? I like Pumpkin or Juice for a little orange girl, but OH isn't a fan and said there is no way he's walking around yelling out 'Pumpkin' I also don't mind the name Pheobe. Her reg'd name will be Red Spirit. Any suggestions will be much appreciated!!

So True! The breeder i got Roxy off is IMO a larger scale breeder. They wouldn't have more than 10 litter a year but they do breed often, athough they do seem to be slowing down a bit. They are a very reputable breeder in that a lot of their dogs are behind most quality bull terriers today and i would go as far as saying they have contributed to the bull terrier in Australia today in a very big way (have been breeding over 30years). They do still compete in show. And they generally keep the best pup/s out of a litter to run on. They tend to keep more bitches than dogs, and bitches are breed from once or twice then desexed and adopted out to a nice family home, when they are 3 or 4. They also sell their pups relatively 'cheaper' compared to some prices of BTs going around. They definitly improve on each litter and are putting out very nice examples of BTs and i think they get what they want out of most litters, but i also think it helps them (in a small way) with the costs of owning and keeping so many dogs. But in saying that, IMO this is not why they breed .

The worst was about a month or so ago, i had just walked Roxy down to the vet to get her nails done, which entails me having to wrestle her down a bit coz she hates getting her nails done and cries. Silly me wore a white shirt, Roxy dusty and unwashed, covered me in doggy smell, dust and brown hairs. Afterwards i walked down to the Post Office which is always crowded, was getting a few looks and realised i really reeked of dog and then noticed all the hairs as soon as i got to the counter i had to apologise and explain i had just been to the vet with my dog. I will learn to leave the doggy things til last one day !!

Labrador Bowling Ball Skittles Owner At The Beach
Roxy Lady replied to Mrs Rusty Bucket's topic in General Dog Discussion
Roxy was doing Zoomies the other night i was out the back playing with her and we were on the verandah and she was in the middle of some high octane air spins and shes came out of it at full pelt to do a bolt around the yard and ran head first into the verandah pole She hit it hard too,it would have only been a metre or so away as she came out of the spins at top speed! Pulled her up pretty quick though, i near crapped me dacks, but after checking her over i couldn't help but laugh ! She was still hyped up afterwards but no more zoomies and spins, just hugs and waggy tails :D ! She hasn't ran into me or the kids yet, shes usually pretty good at dodging us and the kids have learnt its best to keep still at these times, but not sure whether coz it was night time those squinty bully eyes don't see as well and didn't notice the thin white pole ?? -
When i had my Kia Sportage (heap of crap) it was very easy, Roxy had a large canvas collapsible crate that fit into the back and would stay there. Now i have a Commodore sedan, if the cars not full she'll either sit on the front or back seat, depending if i have a front seat passenger, but if i havea full car she goes on the front passenger floor mostly , oh she's usually half on the floor and half on a lap though i know it can be dangerous, but it is the most comfortable spot for her and the kids in a full car, and i'm currently not in a position to upgrade the car at the mo'. Just want to add she doesn't travel in the car often (i know it is still risky), mainly only if we are going away for the weekend and taking her with us. Very sorry to read about your friend Sounds like hes had a very tough time, and i hope things start looking up for him

Didn't even other reading the 2nd page. My sisters pure staffy jumped the fence and hung himself while she went to town Her elderly neighbours found him and they were soo upset too that they hadn't heard him, as they used to spoil him and look after him if she as away, they had taken himdown and had him in a hessian bag to take away for her, (god love 'em!). She had only recently started chaining him up as he had been caught jumping over their front fence. She had never seen him even jump onto his kennel but obviously that is what he had done. He was a beautiful dog, great with kids dogs and cats, so not sure why he started escaping? But so missed by 2 families. Please if you are going to chain him up make sure there is no way he can get over any high fences etc to hang himself. Make sure it is safe area for him Otherwise i would most definitly recommend a fully enclosed cage is the way to go!!! There's no way to hurt themsleves or noone else. Youhave full control hopefully

Honestly, i can't give advice on this breed of dog, i've had nothing to do with them. But i have a bull terrier who i believe is soo much different in the way they work to maremmas, so i'm not sure if this advice will even be relevent. But i caught Roxy in the middle of devouring one of the bantams, all i had to do was yell and she bolted, she knew she was in trouble, she tried to bolt but was trapped against a fence and i give her a smack with my thong on her rump (her first ever smack!!) and she ran to the front of the house, so i dragged her to the front lawn where she was eating the chook and put her nose in it and smacked her once on the nose, i tell ya what! She lets the chooks eat out of her bowl now!! I dont normally ever hit my dogs and she got quite a shock from it but i have to tell you it worked! I never hope to hit her or any of "my" dogs again but at the time it really worked, so i can't honestly say i did the wrong thing? Roxy has also tried to chase my mother few sheep and a small mob of cattle, but thankfully she has always responded to my quick loud yell at her. Tasting blood, i'm not sure what to think!! Roxy has never tried to kill anymore chooks since and i know pig hunters who's dogs are trained to stick to wild pigs and not get confused with domestic pigs, sheep, cattle, kangaroo or goats. I'm not in any way saying this is how to deal with a maremma, but just relaying my experience with my dogs and chooks

Hey, yeah that sounds around the right time for yor girl to start her season. I haven't owned boy puppies to know when they are ready, but if i was you i wouldn't be taking the risk. Keep her for a male you know will do her justice And let her mature a bit more as well, shes still a baby!!

What Would Your Dog Sound Like If It Could Talk?
Roxy Lady replied to a topic in General Dog Discussion
Roxy doesn't bark often, but if i go by her actions and the looks she gives she would have to sound like Hannah Montana (Miley Cyrus) Can be sooky and tries to suck up (imagine Hannah Montatnas "Pleeeease" ) but also have that sort of deep/squealy husky voice when shes excited. -
My OHs pop does this. Nearly every dog he'sowned has been nemed Sam/Samuel. I think its funny and pretty cute. Personally i wouldn't do it, not sure why but i think its more of each pet 'owning' their name. I've had some pets with awesome name i would love to use again but just don't cooz it'd be weird. ETA: I have friends whose dog Spike died and wen they got another it looked very similar to Spike,so they called it Like, coz it was Like Spike

I took it for a hypothetical 'imaginary' breed and 'breed standard', calling for outright intended 'natural' (ie bred in) aggression .
-
Back in '06 i was still new to the internet and had been searching for bull terrier breeders or people to talk to about bull terriers for about a year or so before i found DOL. I used to go into crappy random chat rooms and ask if anyone liked bull terriers
-
Hmm, well i took the OP to mean a hypotchetical 'imaginary' dog, which is bred excusively to be either HA or DA, with the standard allowing/encouring the behaviour to be bred into these imaginary dogs. The imagininary dog i picture is a large/medium dog that is muscualar in stature, which if was bred to be HA or DA would certainly do a lot of damage. I also took the human aggression to be what it is. Aggressive toward humans. Not wary or cautious, or protective just outright aggressive. IOW would definitly bite and attack if allowed. I see no place for outright HA to be bred into dogs. I understand training for aggression or even a natural wariness or protectiveness. But intended outright 'natural' HA is not on! Who needs a dog like this?? as above can be said for DA. Really who needs it? Not any of the dogs originally bred for fighting these days 'compete' or are encouraged to do so (unless by idiot owners), fair enough they have a natural tendancy but a responsible owner/breeder should have no reason to breed an overly DA dog, temperament these days should be just as important as looks. IMO ;)

Scamps or Scamper?? Cute name for a CKC. Or what about Pheobe?? Or Lana? My daughters name is Lana and she is very boisterous and gets into absolutly everything, shes now 7 and hasn't changed much from when she was 9months old
-
Milan ;) Its a pretty girls name too!! I like Tia, Zoe, Senna, Cyan, Chelsea and my fave Sadie We're hopefully getting a new bully puppy in the near future too (fingers crossed, have only just emailed the breeder this morning) OH has been dying for a red bully since he first saw one at a show, and now finally we finally got the money and time to spend on a new puppy!! I'm thinking if we are lucky and get the one OH likes, he might go with the name Harley. She looks like it would suit her and itsa name OH will probably agree to, only thought of it this morning so haven't asked him yet. He doesn't like any of my other names above LOL!

I don't like seeing kids walking dogs. You just don't know whether there will be another dog to come up and attack their dog, and most of the time the kids have little to no control over their dogs. When i lived at Weethalle,it wasn't a problem, Lana (6-7yo) would often take Roxy running (on lead) or have her running next to her bike (also on lead), the town has a pop.of 150 and we knew what dogs were around and it was unlikely for other peopleto be walking in close proximity. But now, we live in a fairly large town where i don't know what dogs are around and we use footpaths instead of the road to walk on, so people are more likely to pass close by. Not that Roxy is at all aggressive, but I can't risk another dog coming up and expect Lana or Jasmin to be able to read another dog and know what to do if they see another approaching dog. Not only that but if someone wants to pat Roxy she may jump on them (she does it softly, but i think its rude) and the kids wouldn't pull her back before she does it or they mightn't keep her in close enough so that she can't go to sniff someone as they go past, i don't let her get close enough to sniff anyone, i also think its rude. Plus the kids can be rough with her, she has a choke chain, she doesn't really need it, but i don't want them yanking her around either. I do let them walk her when i am there but if i see another dog or someone approaching i take over and tell the kids to run ahead in case its an offlead dog and there in an attack. I also walk next to them so that if Roxy needs a check i can do it without Lana ripping her head off LOL. When i was about 10/11yo, i was in weethalle, walking our 2 blue heelers and bully X off lead, the dogs were very obedeient and were running up ahead of me but as i was walking i heard yapping and a lady yelling to her dog, so i started running towards my dogs and stupidly called the dogs, and because i did this the dogs immediatly ran back to me seeing a little sausage dog chasing me barking its head off. So of couse my dogs jumped straight onto the little dog, i managed to call off the 2 blue heelers pretty much straight away and told them to get home (which to their credit they did, running past the woman holding her other dog) but the bully x was more stubborn and just kept going and i had to get in and pull her off, once i did i give her a boot and told her also to get home which she also did. The woman had stayed up on the road holding her other dog (cocker spaniel) ihad a quick look at the sausage dog (which i was terrified of) who suprisingly was not too badly injured and told the lady that her dog was ok and ran home to tell mum what happened. Mind you, the woman was my friends mum and the sausage dog was the most vicious little dog i've ever known. I was 'lucky' though as kids we were used to dogs fighting, the neighbours dogs (labs and blue heelers) would constantly come into our yard and would get into fights with our dogs, so i had seen what to do. But my kids have not had any experience with anything like that, and it could have been a very bad situation, had our dogs been less obedient. Kids should not be put into a potentially dangerous situation that they don't have the ability to control or deal with properly. Nothing happened over the fight between our dogs and the sausage dog, as both parties were in the wrong by not having leads on the dogs.
