HOT Weather Warning ~Night Before Channel 9 Nightly News—6pm If Day is advertised as 30° or Over Fun Day will be CANCELLED Mrs RB also asked about the weather... IMHO, be smart and don't go on either the 16th or the 30th if this is the weather forecast. Coming from showing, I know some people put ribbons in front of the health & welfare of their dogs where the weather is concerned. Let's be sensible about it - the dogs will be running hard and if it's hot, that's not smart. Sonia
  2. Yep, 8am. And we'll be hanging at the back with you guys!! :D
  3. Kirty, I followed your previous thread about Nessie. Nessie went to the Bridge knowing love. That's what counts in her all too short life. Run free, and without pain, Nessie. RIP. Sonia edit for sp
  4. Hi Jacqui, I'll be there on the 16th with Moss and my Keplie Meg - dunno about Arella, she's just come into season. Will think about the 30th too... Sonia
  5. Marlfoxx, I have a Classic trailer with downward facing vents - doesn't leak to my knowledge, no leaking around the whirlys either. Perhaps the Toledo has a design flaw? I bought mine secondhand about 7 years ago. We looked in the DOL classifieds - criteria of size, berths and price. I think you just need to keep looking and you'll find what you're after. If it's your first trailer, don't be too picky about brand - I reckon they all hold their value well, if you look after and do maintenance regularly. Just keep looking for the size you need in the budget range you can afford. Preloved are fine, but I do agree with the comments about trailers for Greyhounds doing many kms. Good luck... Sonia (the legend of the run...)
  6. I miss you more than you can imagine... and my FB friends think I'm weird, still posting about a dead dog!! (Thanks DOLers!!)
  7. The guy at the field day was quite helpful and said that they would "make up" a run in any combo that ppl wanted at around $100 per panel ROUGHLY!! Their site is at 99 Cavan Road, Gepps Cross. Here's the pic: Is it anything like what you're looking for? Am I indeed LEGENDARY?? Sonia
  8. Found some good looking panels at the Yorke Peninsula field days yesterday. Were about $100 a piece, came in a set of four with a gate, but they will tailor the pack to what you want. Their base pack is 3x1.8m x 4 panels, one with PA gate. Just the sides, no roof. But you could add shade cloth etc. These are panels with welded wire that bolt together. Want me to scan the brochure for you? They don't seem to have the product I'm talking about on their website... www.senturion.com.au
  9. So sorry for your loss. Your little one was obviously sent to teach you all something. Right now, there's only despair and sadness, but in time, perhaps, his soul will return to you to light the way forward. Don't lose hope. RIP Destiny's Child. Playing in the endless fields of Rainbow Bridge.
  10. Not to worry - there's always next time... and the time after that... and then once more!! I think we all agreed we'd be back. Most dogs did either 1 or 2 runs. I think Sammy did an extra, and may have needed 5 or 10 more!! Some of us started at 150m for the first run - a warm up... but those rotten Salukis just turned around at the end and coming romping back to mum!! ;) In fact most dogs seemed to have a decent recall... Sonia
  11. Thanks... but I quite adored your Bloodhound and think the name Earl just suits him to a tee!! I love Kelpies too - they are intelligent in a vastly different way to the hounds. Sonia
  12. Gorgeous Whippies!! A breed of dog I really admire... Happy Birthday 7 year olds!!
  13. You know how they say dogs sometimes look like their owners? Well, does Rosie BELONG to Earl??? bahahahahaha They're both quite gorgeous and I will bring my biatch Kelpie next time too!!
  14. I have a photographer friend who may be interested... I'll ask. The weather might well put us out of commission after the 16th of October. Trevor was fairly definite not to run our dogs once it gets too hot and even suggested an 8am start for next time. Still, see what happens... Dunno what sort of summer we're in for this year! If anyone hasn't seen them yet, there's pix on Facebook at here
  15. Bahahahahaa!! She's getting a bit of "windflap" in her jowls!!!
  16. Really - I thought the sighthounds were a tad embarressing today!!! However... Course of the day surely belongs to Sammy's "off the track" course!! @Lovemymutts - I left home at 6:30 am and got there shortly after 8. The next one will be earlier still, due to the warmer weather by the time we get to go again. Come next season, we might be able to make it a little later. Still, I don't think we actually started running our dogs til about 9 or 9:30 - we had to wait for the Greyhounds to finish training. Sonia edit: sp
  17. Oh - and JACQUI!!!! Thanks for organising it - best $16 plus sh!tloads of petrol I've ever spent on the dogs!!!
  18. Kirislin, They have a GREAT set up. The lure is returned via a pulley system, with a small motor. Saves the walking. The whole track is fenced and the catching pen even has foam bounce boards!! Not that any of ours really needed that - most of them chased the lure up then did a recall back down the track to their mums!!! The guys running the lure thought that was a scream! Fantastic to meet you all (and catch up with you Robb & Julie!!). Fantastically, well-behaved doggies you all have - even Sammy!! He had an absolute ball!! Sonia edit for clumsy typing fingers
  19. Could also be related to his diet. I had the same issues for months with my small terrier and switching her diet totally stopped her itchiness. Sonia
  20. Will let you know - and when the next one is. Would be great to catch up with you again Julie!! Hope you're well. Sonia
  21. Insha-llah - so sorry you won't be joining us... can you not take the day off!!??
  22. Sally isn't the first dog I have lost, but she was my in a way the others aren't. I have found it much more difficult to cope with her death than I imagined. I have known for a while that her time was limited, that she was getting old. She just kept on keeping on, was happy & healthy, ran and played, begged(!) despite some small aches and pains. She was okay right up until 4am on her final day with me, when she slipped away and I knew she wouldn't come back. I am glad I was spared a long illness, or terrible trauma. I am glad it was over quickly. I am glad I was there for her, due to family circumstances (I should have been at work and would have felt terrible if I hadn't been there for her). I have so much to be thankful for... I think I'll go hug a dog now.
  23. Is that THIS SUNDAY 25th Sept? I'm in... My dogs have never been muzzled, and I think they may need to run either individually or the two together - certainly with other dogs may not be wise, esp. the first time out. They have never lure course before, but plenty of free coursing rabbits etc. I'm EXCITED!!! Sonia
