  1. I was sure there was a thread on DOL about the collective names of DOL members and their male or female dogs. I'm trying to find it, but search isn't turning up anything. Help?
  2. My mum/sister's dog is a Pure White Deaf Boxer. He has learned many behaviours from hand signals, as well as many mannerisms from other dogs. He and my mum have a special connection and have worked out their own quirks and he responds quite well. He also follows DIFFERENT hand signals for my sister (his "real" owner) and when she comes to visit follows what she asks him through hand signals. He just knows they are different people. It has taken years, but he doesn't jump fences or take off any more, gates can be left open and he just stays at home. He is a beautiful dog and the deafness has not changed how responsive he is.
  3. sending out more love... as for Bravery awards - I think the RSPCA do awards that just makes me laught, and I am sure would make Jed laugh too! edited Yup! The RSPCA Humane Awards

  8. Trying not to be a pedant... but the message says that Jane is stable, not that she is awake. I am not sure if there is a difference, but if there is, we don't want people spreading the wrong news.. Glad to hear that she is stable though. fantastic.
  9. Sounds great that he was probably rehomed via the pound rather than through the money grubbing people who would rather have a dog destroyed than risk not getting money from his sale.. Now, if only he could have been desexed first..
  10. that first photo is breathtaking!
  11. hahah! Phillipa, I remember SO fondly the Smurf Hunts! TBCSITW sure did love to track them buggers down! C'mon boy, come home.. We'll have the Smurfs ready!
  12. Ugh. I hate the RSPCA reporting and giving statements on anything... that story didn't sound nice at all. Anne, they would have seized them (ie: gained temporary ownership) to remove them from the dangerous property. But the article makes it sound like Jed was an animal horder - naming 3 different breeds, that there were 20 dogs and they were all living in the house... That's the RSPCA for you though.
  13. I couldn't give very much at all at the moment, but I have donated what I could. Graves will be of great comfort in a terrible situation...
  14. OMG. I am just speechless. My love and thoughts are with you Jed... much much love. Donation coming. TBCITW. The other dogs ;)
  15. oh far out! love to Jed. will get a donation there ASAP
  16. Please don't block right hand click... it drive me BATTY when people do this. it is not a deterrent for people to stop stealing your stuff - if they really wanted it they would get it. but putting the right click stop on your site causes more frustration for those doing the right thing (like wanting to open new windows)..
  17. Have just sat through my statement with the Ranger. Here is some more info... It is believed the dog got out while the owner was having the fences fixed. Owner was not home, but his mother was. They are updating their 6 foot fences at the moment. The owner is being hit with a dog attack fine of $550. This is the second attack by the dog. Similar attack in 2008 however it was not followed through with a statement because owner paid vet bills for the other dog. They do not plan to declare the dog dangerous. But they want the owner to comply with fencing rules. They do not believe it will go to court unless the owner pleads not guilty (which they do not believe the owner will do as they acknowledge that the dog had an opportunity to get out). They don't think they will need to contact me again. (They is the council)
  18. 10am tomorrow the Ranger is coming over to take my official statement. He already has the cavalier owner's statement. The dog was taken to the vet and put on a course of Antibiotics due to the puncture wounds. His front foreleg has bruising to the muscle I believe. After that they will talk to the owner and decide a course of action.
