Who thinks of these things! Seriously though, its not too much of a drama, just had never had a dog do it before and wanted to be sure it was as much a product of old age as anything else. Sezy, I think I'd prefer dog turds then cat ones..... ick!

Thanks guys, sometimes the poo's do smell, but they are still just firm round masses, although this morning we had a long one. Will just monitor I guess. He is a happy old man so will leave be until such time as it gets worse. Kirislin thank doG there is no room for Chopper on my bed, his are more walnut size then raisin.... Chookie, I'd rather wake up to a dog one then a human one... thanks for the thought :D

poops in his sleep??? We have an aged Great Dane/ Lab boy, just under 70kgs. He has always had lots of wind, but in the last few months he will poop as well as pass wind while he is asleep. Not a huge amount ( although its huge cos he is) and never runny, always a hard pellet type, and he never realises he has done it. Watched him yesterday, asleep on the couch... He has had no change in diet, poo's normally outside, isn't incontinent in the wee side of things and is a happy old man. Not sure whether I should take him to the vet or not, and just wondered if anyone else had this happen in their old dogs.

Confronting but also exciting surely. To think that there is progress in getting back to your own place must be lovely. How is the healing going? -
Jasper is a stunner, so lovely to see updated pics of him.

Large Dogs And Small Dogs Living Together?
barkon replied to ash&elar's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have 5 dogs and a foster JRT at the moment, the smallest is just under 5 kg, the largest is 70kg. They are always together, they are locked outside when I am in town and I don't have a problem with any of them. I'm with Greytpets, my little ones are definitely the bosses. -
:) Lovely to see such a positive update on Sophie. You're doing a great job VC. She is lucky you took her.

again words fail me, your strength is an inspiration Jed. Keep going, there is always light at the end of the tunnel and I'm sure you'll find the end sooner rather then later. Kia Kaha (be strong) -

Nothing better then doggy company to make you feel better! Won't be long and you'll have your own doggies for company again soon. You're doing a great job of getting better. -

What an honour Jed has bestowed on the DOL community by sharing with us these precious photographs and the unfathomable depths of grief and pain she must be going through. It's almost undone me, frankly. + 2 I have been a silent lurker on this thread, but have been lighting candles, your posts moved me to tears Jed. RIP all your special angels. -
It Might Be Time To Make The Hardest Decision... :(
barkon replied to hortfurball's topic in General Dog Discussion
Horts. I know how hard this decision is for you to make. Kuges has done so well and lived so happily that to have a mobile vet come out would be lovely. Ella and Kuges could be together, and Kuges wouldn't have the stress of being put in to the car for a one way trip. He would be at peace in the place he loves best.... with you, in his own home. You will do what is right for the both of you, you always have. Sending lots of hugs and love your way. -
Gee thanks Stormie , Problem solved, seeing as we live on a thoroughbred stud farm and hubby is the stallion manager he got to do the deed. Plenty of lubricant and a bit of manhandling, the vet said to be sure to slide the sheath over rather then push the penis back. All done and we will know how to do it next time.. bloody horny males Thanks for the advice everyone
-
You'd best tell me, I think... if you don't mind. ETA We are ringing the vet as I type

Ok, so I was sitting outside with all my dogs ( 5 males) and two were playing. The play eventuated with one humping the other ( Ralph was lying on his back on the ground and Taz was humping on top). All very harmless I would have said, except Taz is now fully extended ( his penis that is) and seemingly can't put it away. Is there anything we can do for him or is this just what happens when dogs get knotted and it will go away on its own? I've always had desexed dogs so have no idea how it all works. Would appreciate some suggestions.....

Its a shame those " representatives from Britain’s most-respected animal welfare bodies " weren't spending more time on things that are really breaking the law eg puppy farms, dog fighting gangs etc etc. :D
