  1. So sorry. It must be heartbreaking for you
  2. She's done this a few times in the last few months but it's more frequent and she's getting more upset. My daughter just called around. She didn't know Ingrid's unwell and she could see something wasn't right. Ingrid loves her. She only loves three people in the world.
  3. Ingrid is not doing awfully well. She's getting frightened by things like waking up and me not being in the room. She goes into a panic and is very distressed. I've just calmed her down from another episode of this. From what I've read it's nothing to do with the kidney disease.
  4. How long? I know no one can tell me how long we've got but I can't help but wonder and worry.
  5. Thanks. Yes I think I'll go with the K/D. Getting everything right with homemade looks a bit worrying. Ingrid is okay at this stage, just drinking and weeing a lot. At her age I guess something has to start going wrong
  6. She suggested I look into home made diets.
  7. My 13 1/2 year old Cavalier has been diagnosed with chronic kidney failure and I'm looking for advice please. The more I read the more confused I get! For instance the vet suggested chicken and white fish is better for her than red meat yet the homemade diets I've found include raw minced beef. And I'm looking for ideas for treats too. TIA :) :)
  8. A friend has a standard poodle and he has attacked her cats. They are kept very carefully apart now. She has done lots of training with him.
  9. My Newfoundland was a wonderful gentle girl. Loved her to bits! And she fitted in the back of my hatchback. She did sometimes drool on the kids on the back seat though
  10. I just re read your post. I thought you were being charged extra for it.
  11. A 36 month health guarantee? Is that through the breeder?
  12. Yes I was disappointed in the one I bought. It was pretty flat.
  13. Couldn't agree more! Please contact the breeder.
  14. Have you spoken to his breeder? I don't think bottle feeding is necessary.
  15. If mine have a carcass that is the whole meal. Might be best not to give a huge feed of tripe. At a guess I'd say I give mine 3/4 necks to 1/4 tripe. Breakfast is around 7 or 8 and tea about 4.30-5.
  16. Yes I'd be surprised if they aren't quite busy dogs. Cavaliers can certainly make friends with lots of different types of dogs but a Cav would probably slot in more easily.
  17. Oh yes I forgot the tripe. They love that :)
  18. If your dog is vaccinated and the dog has come from a home and not been in a pound situation the risk would be low I think. It doesn't sound like she's had very good care does it? To be honest I couldn't live with a terrier but that's me. Lots of people love them.
  19. I know some people say to feed raw and dry seperately but I've never had a problem with feeding together. At the moment my lot get a handful of dry (currently grain free cause Lacey does better on grain free) for breakfast and for tea my old girl Ingrid has a handful of dry plus a couple of small necks. The other adults have a wing or chicken carcass or necks. If it's a carcass that is the whole meal. If it's wings or necks they also get a raw egg or some BARF patty or some sardines or chicken hearts or liver added to it.
  20. I would assume they would be very active and busy. Probably wouldn't be very big but if they are 12 months they would be full grown anyway..
  21. When I was a child there was a lady not far from us who had a private zoo. She had a lovely Great Dane who walked very carefully through the giant guinea pig enclosure :)
  22. I think if you bring it up with the other animals it should be okay. I used to breed guinea pigs and my Cavs were fine with them. One guinea pig had bubs and didn't initially care for them. One of my Cavs licked them dry and warmed them until their mum took to them. I wouldn't trust all to be like that though
