I used to wrap my cat in a towel to make her easier to handle. Might be worth a try? I'd put it around her chest and wrap firmly around her back.

Yes my new washing machine is the perfect size for grooming Does a good wash too
-
Chicken wings will be okay for her but if you want to feed them now I'd be giving them a good beating/bashing with a meat cleaver or mallet. As she gets bigger she will cope with chewing them up just fine. As far as necks watch her closely and if she is a gobbler attack them before feeding too. I have two pups - one is really good with chewing and the other swallows things whole! That's when you do worry about choking.
-
When I'm getting pups used to being groomed I do them on my lap. Try to pick a time when she is fairly quiet and start off stroking the length of her to calm her a bit then gently brush and speak softly.

I tried chilli powder once and the dogs like it :D
-
<we knocked on the door and 3 puppies were brought out (app, they mate them to death!)> so you thought you'd give them some money to encourage them to keep on breeding their dogs.... :D

Life just ain't fair sometimes is it? So sad.

<I religiously took her outside often, repeated "toilet" over and over. If she didn't get the message I forced her butt down, spread her back legs and held her tail up. > Many puppies would find this rather intimidating so I wouldn't recommend it.

I hope all went well with his op

What are you feeding her Trish? Was she a rescue?
-
Yes I don't like paper in the whelping box. If it's hot and my girl doesn't like vetbed I've used pillowslips with paper inside them.

Raven I would be very surprised if your boy couldn't swim. Newfies adore the water. I had a girl many years ago when my kids were young. She swam over to my son and I think she was trying to 'save' him but pushed him under Poor boy but he did see the funny side. I also had a GSP and my then boyfriend decided she should swim. She did not want to go in so he threw her in And it was quite cold in the water when he had to jump in and rescue her. Apparently he thought all dogs could swim too but she was drifting down the river just barely keeping her head above water.

The two pups I've had who went a bit flat were caused by environment. The first one I'd had them overheated. Once I cooled it down a bit and did some work with her she came good. They other one was a very fat puppy so I kept moving her away from Mum and doing some physio and made the whelping box lumpy.
-
I don't know how they will go being 5 weeks old I've had a couple and they responded to physio very quickly but they were much younger. Do you have a good vet?
-
No it's bigger than normal. To double check I've just gone around checking everyone's chins
-
I have just noticed that my girl has a lump about the size of a pea on her throat. It's where she has a little clump of hairs coming out in the middle of her throat under her chin if you can picture where I mean? I went to stroke her under the chin and discovered it. It doesn't seem to be bothering her at all. A vet visit or keep an eye on it? She is 10 months old. TIA!

Sorry totally off topic but I had to reread your post.... I read he has to be on a low 'prune' diet And I have new glasses!

I wonder if he over-did it on Thursday when he had a big meal? Maybe he just had too much so he threw up. If he checked out fine I don't know why the vet would have put him on antibiotics If you think how tiny his tummy is at this age he needs only small amounts. If he were mine I would be giving him small meals of chicken, rice and Royal Canin and see how he goes on that and then gradually do away with the rice and chicken. And you must come and join us in the Cavalier thread and post pictures
-
Oh dear poor dog! A huge number of dogs go through their whole lives with dew claws and no problems so I don't think your vet could have foreseen this unless they have a crystal ball.
-
<Actually as I discovered, the puggle is a pug x beagle. Adorable.> Sorry but a puggle is a baby echidna. No such 'breed' of dog - just another silly made up name for a crossbreed.

Where Do You Buy Your Food For Raw Diets?
Gretel replied to whatevah's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
It might be a good idea if people post where they live and where they buy from. Could help a few people out  -
I have to ask what is a retic?

Not much help Violet but a lot of Cavs do not like toileting in the wet! I wouldn't feed her outside in the rain though

I feed chicken livers.
