  1. What an awful thing to happen I do hope your dog survives. It does sound like it was only a matter of time until the poor Akita had to do something.
  2. He may well not need as much as the packet says he does. I never go by the feeding amount they say. I'd be looking at him - is he too skinny or does he look okay?
  3. <I also asked the vet about tick cases coming into the office in a week and he estimated about three. Is that a high occurrence?> I don't know if I'd call it high but that is about three dogs who may die from tick poisoning.....
  4. If you are located in Victoria why do you want to buy from Queensland? There are lots of Cavalier breeders in Victoria and you can meet the Mum and pups and have the breeder closer for support. Does this breeder show her dogs? Why is she breeding? Does she heart test with a cardiologist?
  5. No I don't think anything can be done about it CW EW. Years ago I was very unlucky and had several pups who had good knees until they hit a year old and then all had slipping patellas ;) The vet explained to me that as the leg straightened up a bit with growth it can happen then. She also mentioned seasons at that time. One of these pups is Lacey who is now 6 and has never had any problems. Her sister, Liesl, had her worst knee repaired and went on to a pet home. Both parents have good knees. Ingrid is nearly 9 and very sound. No one else had any problems from the stud dog. I was just unlucky. Lacey was desexed and has been very spoilt here One of those times I hate breeding....
  6. Oh sorry to hear that. Is Emmy desexed? I think she is. It's just sometimes patellas can get looser around season time.
  7. Hi. There were adult but the puppy looks the same. It is the same flavor and and size kibble. Kel. Thanks I shall be ordering some from you soonish.
  8. Might be a good idea to contact the Victorian Cavalier Club and have a chat to someone There are a lot of Cavalier 'breeders' who are just in it for the money......
  9. Kelly I picked up a couple of samples from you at the Spring Fair on Friday. I didn't ask if they were puppy or adult?
  10. <We just renovated our bathroom and paid $60 for a new toilet roll holder and our toilet paper now sits on our window sill out of harms way...> Sorry but Mine love toilet rolls too. And the middle of the foil roll is great cause they can share those. I seem to have more toys that they aren't interested in than ones that they love. Just looking out the window I can see the Kong Goodie ship that no one has shown much interest in. They even gave up when there was still a treat in it. For a while anything with a rope was popular but now they are not fussed with them. If Ingrid can't rip the guts out of things she isn't interested.
  11. <I have never produced any affected pups, so going on what has been said, my dog at least is an A.> Well that would be nice Jed but unless they are MRIed there is no way you can know. I've never produced any affected pups that I know of either but I would never say my dog is an A without an MRI.
  12. <I'm surprised at the number of owners who are bathing every week.> I bathe or shower daily The dogs not so often though!
  13. I thought I wanted a leather lounge. I bought one on ebay. It was quite well used but good quality but I didn't like the feel of it. Maybe if I could afford to get one of those really expensive one that are so squishy I might like it better but they are out of my price range I ended up with a microsuede and I like it. I do keep a quilt over it though so it's easier to keep clean. I scotchguarded it too.
  14. I've just heard back from my friend and they used Sky Pet and said they were fabulous.
  15. Hi Gretel - thanks for that!! I am driving myself nuts with worry. Would it be very troublesome to ask your friend who she used? Thanks so much. I shall email now and let you know.
  16. Good decision I suggested the same thing to a friend's daughter when she asked me about a young bitch she's taken on. Unfortunately she chose not to desex her so will very soon have a litter of cross border collie/coolies to raise and home

    Help!

I'd be keeping them seperated when you can't supervise.
