I have had two dogs with dry eye. The first responded very well to treatment and after 18 months on Cyclosporin no longer needed any treatment. She developed it as an adult. The other girl was only a tiny pup when the breeder realised there was a problem. Her response to treatment wasn't as sucessful. Tear production did increase in one eye but the other eye showed no real improvement and she is on treatment for life - just the one eye though.

Funny Mis-informed Things People Say About Dogs
Gretel replied to spoilt lab lives here's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh no!!! Lacey has black on her tongue, loves raw meat and has ORANGE eyebrows!!!!! I am terrified!! -
I am sorry

Yes I have issues with some of the names too. Well probably just my own breed I call them Cavaliers or sometimes Cavs. Cavies are guinea pigs and Cavvys really does sound like backyard bred. I use the names Staffords and Sibes. That would be from working in a grooming salon with show dogs.

Yes I fancy a Ninja ball too
-
Cavaliers do moult quite a bit....
-
Mine do nose removals And there are a few one-eyed toys floating around. The funny thing is when my grandson was little he chewed the nose off his Care Bear and I had to do some surgery to remove it and stitch him back together.

Oh and deer antlers :D

One toy I bought Vienna that gets constant use is her treat ball. She has it most days when I crate her if I'm going out. When she was a pup she'd have her lunch in it when I went to work
-
Yes I am in complete agreement here. A sorry situation but I can't see a good outcome. Were you aware the pup had a murmur when you bought it?
-
Yes temperaments are very different with the breeds too. The Charlies I've known couldn't really care less whether they please you or not whereas most Cavaliers are eager to please.
-
Melstar was asking about Cavaliers in a previous post so I was a bit surprised they have two King Charles now. That's why I was asking....
-
Did you end up buying King Charles Spaniels instead of Cavaliers? Yes 6 months old is quite normal for a toy breed to come in season. It sounds like you might need to do rather a lot more research ;)

For some reason those cheapie round beds from KMart are safe with Vienna but she has killed everything else!
-
Oh Jules I am so sorry - that is devestating
-
How long have you had him? He may have been fine when he was younger and this has happened recently.

A Conversation With My Dogs This Afternoon
Gretel replied to Dust Angel's topic in General Dog Discussion

I have had a good laugh at the stories!! The worst thing I've had in the bed is a half chewed toilet roll.
-
I like the look of that one! Can I ask where you bought it please?
-
Yes I say thank you as well Last night I took the girls out to go to the toilet last thing. I talk nicely to them and praise them and then I can hear nextdoor speaking to their dog, "MOVE". And then some grumbles. They always speak in such a grumpy way to the dogs That or shouting The dogs respond so much better to kind voices!

Sorry I don't mean to be abrupt. It's just I don't see how commenting on what you'd expect in another breed is very helpful in this case.
-
As Dellcara stated in Cavaliers undershot can correct. Since it's a Cavalier being asked about I'd be listening to people who know the breed rather than what happens in other breeds. ;)

One of the local schools has one of these for the kids to play in. I had thought the dogs would like it :D
