I've had Cavaliers for over 30 years and not met one as high maintenance as your fella. He doesn't sound easy to live with at all! I hope you can find a good behaviourist and can get some help with him. The majority of Cavs have great temperaments though some are much more active and some much more vocal than others. My old girl Ingrid came to me at 18 months old and she was a bit of a challenge but improved a lot. I always advise people to meet the pups mum when they are buying a Cav pup. Over the years I've met some dogs that have been very timid and some that have been aggressive. Unfortunately there are some very dodgy breeders who are just in it for the money. good luck!

So easy to mix up. A friend took her niece to the chemist for an opinion on something and asked could the vet come out to see her

Told She Was Desexed.. Find Out She Isn't. Accidental Mating

I'm pretty sure it's optional in NSW. I've been asked if I want them done or not. -
Told She Was Desexed.. Find Out She Isn't. Accidental Mating

lol I don't think your reasoning is correct. My girl isn't tattooed, nor is she secretly being shown desexed  Mine are not tattooed and not being shown either. The ultrasound sounds a very good idea to me. -
Wow that's a big omelette!

What Is Your Favourite Animal To Own
Gretel replied to Rascalmyshadow's topic in General Dog Discussion
Guinea pigs. I had quite a few when I was young and they were such cute, happy little critters. They used to greet me with squeaks when they heard me come home and a couple of my boys were very affectionate. :D I spent many hours talking to them and watching their antics. -
You must come join us in the Cavalier thread. It could do with some puppy pics! :D

Mine are doing well on Canidae. They didn't look as good on Taste of the Wild.

Can you empty them regularly?

Trying To Choose A Breed Would Love Some Help Thanks

Yes a friend has a standard poodle who has caused quite a problem with her cats. He was ok with her Cav but I don't trust him around mine. -
that's brilliant!

I've only seen her at the drybed twice and I've never seen her grooming any of the other dogs.

Tatum was a bit off early in the week and I was worried about her by Tuesday night so off to the vet Wednesday morning. The vet diagnosed an obstruction and put her on a drip for a couple of hours hoping it might help move it along. She operated Wednesday afternoon and removed quite a large mass of hair. Tatum is healing nicely but I am rather concerned about the chance of it happening again. I've just been studying the mass and pulling it apart in the hope of discovering what it is and why it got there! There are a few tiny bits of cartilage from chicken necks, a few bits of dry bed. I had noticed her 'grooming' the dry bed a couple of times so thinking she may have ingested quite a bit of hair doing that? Her mother does that fairly often - she seems a bit obsessed with it. The dry bed is now banished! I'd be interested to hear any thoughts on the subject. I'd never have thought of a dog getting a hairball. She doesn't groom the other dogs, doesn't chew coats and we don't have a cat. The vet suggested she might be grooming a cat. I am at a loss. She's only 9 months old.

I've only just seen this thread. I am so sorry. How dreadful
-
Oh wow how fabulous is that?? :)

I've just emailed so will see if I get a reply. My suspicion is that the dog is most likely to have a heart murmur and in need of meds or something along those lines so the owner has decided to get rid of it.... I may be wrong. What a lousy thing to do to a dear old dog. I was minding a boy I bred last week. He was 12 1/2 and died 3 days before he was due to go home. His owners and I are broken hearted. They are not with us long enough

He is seriously gorgeous!

Oh how cute are they?! :D
