I have a Holden Combo ( identical to the VW Caddy) and diesel too great for the dogs and crates with a false bottom, only problem is its a two seater, but thats has advantages too I guess! lol

I also use that as for me ( cant speak for others) certain persons want information and pedigree info and a lot of work for the breeder to do when they really have no intention of even looking at getting the dog. I have no problem with breed info and pics and education, but I have on a few ocassions been called and emailed by "friends" of "friends" who want info and wont call themselves as they know I would not give them the time of day nor a dog. I believe best poilicy is to be upfront and honest, state what your intentions are and its not a waste of time for anyone. People also want to know why I charge what I do and why its so expensive and why why why ! I think most are just after a lesser price, and dont want the free desexing done before dogs leave here, I could go on and on but hope this explains my reasons. I also breed rare birds and I find people want to come and see the birds just to see them, as they are worth a fair bit of money I dont want Tom Dick and harry at my house! Thats my two bobs bit!

My friend had just imported a dog from USA and the the travel costs were heaps cheaper than mine I assume as hers was booked from the USA end and not this end, anyone else find that ? ;)

Thats a shame Shaar as the true Crested ( from years ago did not need to be shaved) its only because people wanted the flashy cresting that created the need to shave on most of the modern day Cresteds, another way man has interfered to the detriment of the breed! and yes they are like monkey climbers lol I admit, I chose a hairy hairless over a true hairless because I liked the flashy crest and boots. He isn't hairy like a normal dog, the way I explain it to people is he gets about the same amount of hair you get on your legs or arms on his body. When he hasn't been shaved it confuses people because he has that fine down of hair so he mustn't be a 'hairless dog' I give up keeping Cyrus in a puppy pen... if we aren't in the room with him, he's not in the pen! lol oh yes the puppy pen and the cresteds! lol try a bloody huge 25 kilo Monkey! I get the "oh so you shaved your dogs ?" " Yeah mate Do you know how long it takes to shave your legs, Yeah I shaved my whole dog! "

Well my dogs were not far off that ( mind you was for two and from USA and a top kennel) thats everything, travel, tests, 6 months boarding, qtine here and the dogs and assocaited costs. I have flight details and costs from the UK for a 4 kilo dog and that is a lot cheaper as no boarding and lighter dog, flights and tets are expected to be $5000.

But you have been on the Xolo thread since inception! lol How about Most purebred dogs have been designed for a specific purpose the Xolo was not. It is unique in the fact that it is a product of natural selection, created and molded by environmental adaptation, rather than selective breeding. The Xolo’s traits of type are traits of self-preservation. :D

A most excellent idea, perhaps a law that prevents vets putting their prices up because they are the only health care option, or a law preventing emergency vets from charging more because they're the only place open at 2 in the morning, would also be effective? I agree with you Lilli that when dog breeders do a few years at university to deserve their right to breed, they can negotiate a price. Putting a dog and bitch together and waiting for them to mate doesn't make a person eligible to charge outrageous prices. Are you a fan of puppy farmers? As a breeder I would welcome the Uni degree course but I doubt many could spare the time to do this, sad really as it could be a way of education, but unfortunatley not all are in a position to spare the time and $$.
