Import / Aqis - Temperament Not Included?
Wazzat Xolo replied to BJean's topic in Breeders Community
The people are q are great and answer all questions, really best to ask them. they never fussed with my dogs and one of them they couldnt get near for days or catch! lol Lilli did you get the PM I sent you ? -
Ozjen yes I am sorry! Was a whirlwind there but wow what a great spectacle I wish I had gone all day! Bunbury has the Bunbury and Districts Dog Club who mainly show but we have two excellent agility ladies in Sandra Yearsley and Debbie Russel who train on diff nights than the obedience and show training. Benotto is run by a friend of mine Claire and a good place to go but possibly more for starting out, I think there is a small club out Australiand way. I will pm you Debbie and Sandras email addies!

Import / Aqis - Temperament Not Included?
Wazzat Xolo replied to BJean's topic in Breeders Community
Lilli I havent heard of it but based on outside laws and what affects they have, it would have to be a very lengthy and possibly costly process for AQIS, and besides that based on what ?? teh people that work there are dog handlers poss vet nurses (not really qualified to state or asess a dog as having a temp problem that would stop it leaving q !) JMO Take into account all factors of quarantine, stress on the dog of new environs, new handlers and at times lenthy flight can all make an animal react in a different way. When mine were in Q I saw some what appearded very unfriendly dogs, all went home! As far as I know the only req for the stay period are the req 30 days and all paperwork to be completed properly and the monies paid. I pmed you re your question, you will have to email me and I will dig out what I have and email you. -
ah yeah I've had that GET A LIFE is all I can say. Gotta love this, at least be agood at it if you try lol I had a email from someone wanting a puppy, providing all the 'right" answers etc!! But when I said it would be dexesed before leaving ( oops did I accidently email and say that) they emailed back and said "We have changed direction now! " Off to annoy another breeder no doubt! lol

That guy was a judge lol Hope he doesnt judge group 7 he then told me Naca had low pasterns, he actually has hare feet, ahh well I must admit I didnt really know what a Cane Corso was either!! Those agility dogs took my breath away, I am still talking about them to anyone who will listen. Thanks Amypie I heard an article was going in but I havent seen the magazine out yet, must see if I can get one.

I and the Xolos stopped by briefly at the Agility nationals today OMG what an eye opener those dogs and handlers were, my big gob was wide open the whole time I stood there in awe, what dedication and absolute control both dog and handler had, how on earth could anyone in this sport be a loser! Anyway probably doesnt make sense to people who do this all the time but gee whizz for someone that hasnt seen this ( only once briefly) I take my hat off in amazement. well done to all, I met Amypie and saw a lot of West Aussies, sorry I didnt say Hi but I was too busy watching.

My butcher must hate me then as I am a vegetarian, thank goodness the dogs have a lot of dog bones!! lol

Missypriss what lovely words and a fitting tribute to your bobble headed boy. Sometimes the hardest decision we make is the bravest and the most unselfish gift we can give those we love. what a true friend you are, Miko will always be a piece of your heart and the memories never fade. J

While I see your point and yes he was a rude so and so, if the quality is there and you get on with the wife, why change? I love people like old cranky pants as its a game to get them to smile and underneath all that gruffness he is probably an old softee just like the rest of business people struggling at the economic times. Not saying its right but just saying, maybe if the meats good and all maybe just tuff it out ? Do whats best for you and the dogs.

I think I would look like an idiot showing a dog that I couldn't even pronounce the breed (Plus I can barely stack up my own pup yet). I think you will find the more expirenced handlers (ST and Hemi&Roxy) will have issues because they both have end of the alphabet dogs too! There might be some junior handlers more then willing to handle? On the CAWA website they have details for the junior handlers class, maybe contact the instructor and get them to ask some of the older kids. I have done all the normal things like you suggested CBR, I have emailed a few people who said they were intersted in showing, but as you say obviously there dogs are more important and most people I know clash. I am amazed its not like the US and there are NO professional handlers here, ah well, we will wait and see. My email fingers will keep emailing and my facebook fingers asking! I may pop into the agility tomz after the APS day down the road, see if anyone is there, please grab me if you see me as I am shocking with faces and names! I will be the one with the two unpronouncables! :D

Very nice, congratulations and all the very best with him. -
Thats great news Spotty re the new addition, I think once in the "other world" you will see it from that side, I am far to casual to really comment on the getting the dogs ready before a show etc as really I have nothing to get ready! lol I will look forward to seeing you NSW DOL ers at the Spring Fair this year

This is the exact reason why I no longer strongly recommend to my friends or family to get a dog or puppy from a registered breeder. Many times they get no response to their well constructed email, or they call and the breeder is rude. I don't even know why people suggest going and chatting to breeders/exhibitors at shows because that rarely has a positive outcome either That is not one inviting scene for general members of the public.... Some breeders really need to improve the way they deal with people. Very true Spotty, I guess they are busy with the show side, I for one will use a show as a little diff as I dont have the competition side and would much rather chat to people about the breed than the competitive side, but I understand how some people are very busy at shows ( of course no excuse for rudeness) I think Australia should have more Breed days where members of the public can chat to and see breeds they may be interested in, when I approached my local club they were not interested at all, I travel all over to promote my breed and I am sure when I start their showing I will miss the shows as Ill be too busy chatting! ( Why I will have a handler0 Do other states have a purely Promote the breed day? I am in WA ;) I think at shows it would be a good idea to have a stall where there are pamphlets about each breed, cards with breeder info etc. Make it more public friendly. At the moment the scene is very uninviting. Exhibitors sit around in a big circle chatting. There is no way I would approach them. I know people are there to exhibit their dogs, but surely they could be a little more inviting? I love purebreds just as much as most people on this forum do and I want to see them still going strong in the years to come. But IMO showies and breeders need to be more friendly and inviting. It is really that simple. P.S. send me a xolo. kthxbi. How about some breed info!! lol

Er... I see quite a few people on this site inquiring about certain breeds and saying upfront that they are just researching for their next. Or people asking about getting a dog and stating openly that it will be in the next few months/year.There also seems to be quite a lot of people suggestion that new owners research their breeds more and contact a few breeders and establish a relationship with them long before they get a pup.... (especially with breeds with a waiting list) Im not trying to make an argument at all, just point out that sometimes people do ask a lot of questions of a breeder and sometimes they dont buy... I emailed my breeder over a 12 month period re puppies, ( I then had to wait many months for a suitable puppy) I was very lucky as so many breeders I emailed couldnt even be bothered answering emails, in the end I was fortunate as I obtained the best of the breed from a long time established breeder who had a very long wait list. I had paid no money until eight weeks before the dogs arrived here and owned the breeder over $3000 in associated fees when the did arrive, she just trusted me to pay. All this was done via email NOT ONE phone call, thats absolute trust from a very well respected and professional breeder, I am not sure I could be so trusting of someone on the other side of the world. Breeders you get the good, the bad, the reputable and the best ever that you just click with!

What Don't Most People Know About Your Breed?
Wazzat Xolo replied to RallyValley's topic in General Dog Discussion
I read the first bit of your post and went "oops!" in my brain until I read the second sentence, I always say "Rott-vyler"! Good to know I'm actually right and not making an idiot out of myself. Beautiful dogs! Yay! ;) ;) You get a gold star Thanks for the doxen pronunciation ( hand up as I erred as well) But feel for me as nobody ever gets my breed past the X!! I have it on my sig as a pronunciation and the dogs jackets and my pamphlets I give out with business cards! Cant wait to name puppies with equally frsutrating names! SHOW LOW EATS QWEENT LEE! -

Bindii Sorry I was being honest when I said try 101 I thought thats what you meant! Post titles can be misleading like the WA topic I assumed was a bit diff but its is all agility folks and about agility lol not especially a WA topic as such! lol OK just for you the Xolo has webbed feet! -
Any Pet store in Bunbury anyway will give you a discount Pet Stock do and the other S West Pets will with their member card, You wanna show my dogs Lab Rat ?? I am looking for a show savvy to show them >?? Pleeeeeaaaaaase!! Sh!t woman ;) I think you need someone with a little more experience to show your beautiful pair and do them justice ;) ....I have done maybe a dozen shows!! I feel nervous just having read your post!! You going to the agility weekend WX?? I may go in Saturday, but got a big Mums day Sunday. What does Sandra need help with? I may be of some use, but given I have no experience with agility other than "Wow - that looks like fun, I may try that,.....one day", dont know if theyll have me! I hope I get my k9 mag tomorrow before I go away for my "Girls Weekend away at Molloy Island" Rat Well I certainly dont do it! Its only the male and the female a few shows as she is going in pup in June. I have emailed a few but no luck so far, funy thing is I have people in every state but here! lol I have a 40th the night before the Agility here and told Sandra I couldnt go, mums day and all, if things change I will let you know LabRat. Anyone want to show a Xolo?

Re the stalking I actually had a well known breeder over here in Australia call the breeder I was importing from and ask her questions about MY dogs! Luckily the breeder in the USA knew this person was fishing and kindly told her to call the importer, the things people will do almost as bad as the stalking!

See i see that as time wasting because you could email that breeder without having a litter advertised to ask all those questions & get a feel for the future & ask what planned litters they have etc etc & pursue from there. I don't mention the litter apart from maybe a "I saw your litter advertised on....I'm not looking for a pup right now, but I am interested in the breed and would like to know more about your........because your dogs look very healthy" Unless they have a seperate email for litter enquires I don't see how I'm wasting their time I email people who state they are interested in the breed a questionaire which has q few simple questions about the reed and why this is the breed for you, also a few tips etc, if I dont get the questionire back I know they couldnt have been interested really anyway!
