Professional Trainer To Help With Late Socialisation
Wazzat Xolo replied to mickey2081's topic in Puppy Chat
I am also in WA and could do with some assistance in training an extremely headstrong 9mth GSD - have already trained with 2 independent trainers but am no further ahead so could you please let me know who you went through? With GSD's, I think you are always better off with trainers who know the breed well, especially K9 experienced with working dogs, police or security dog backgrounds more so than the general purely positive trainers. Its OK Garth is well known for the breed and has worked with the Police Service Dogs and Prison Dogs, ( personal reference)anyway best to call him yourself Skye and let him fill you in. -
What Is The Definition Of "adequate Fencing"
Wazzat Xolo replied to Tilly's topic in General Dog Discussion
Readers Comments... basically it is a fence that is adequate to confine the dog ( Most Dog laws and Local Laws state this ) DD Laws have their own stipulations, it is very open as all dogs are diff but basically they mean a 1ft high fence is not adequate for a Dobermann etc! -
Maybe Showdog? Thanks CBR I will Pm her.

Mine just get EP ( I aleternate between Fish/Anchovie and Duck) it has cleared up a few skin issues and they have actually put on weight and maintain a good size and have TOO much energy! -
Congratulations what a beautiful dog, he is I am sure you will be inundated with offers of a photo and cuddler!

Its very sad that its come to this, when Jo Blow Public can get a quality pup from a reg breeder who will charge less ( or the same) and have a quality papered and health tested dog that the public can buy, very sad indeed, if only the public knew where most came from and what health problems may lie ahead.

Not so....if something proactive comes out of it. Like a suggestion for signage on crates at dogshows, asking spectators to get an exhibitor's agreement before touching the dogs (as would be the case if they were mutts). With maybe reminders over the loudspeaker system....politely reminding spectators. Well said Mita and speaking from my own point of view I dont care if I am at a Dog Show or the local tip manners are manners, the kids of today need to learn some or it will be hell in a few years if the majority of kids do not learn respect! It has nothing to do with pure bred dogs or cross bred dogs.IMHO

I used an Animal Behaviourist who was worth his weight in gold and I saw results almost immediatley, very simple but not what I was being told by other trainers. I have a lifetime service with what I paid which was very reasonable and got a very large assesment and detailed document on what I and the dog needed to do. Dr Garth Jennens (M.Soc.Sci., Ph.D.): is an Applied Animal Behaviourist with degrees in Zoology and Psychology and a doctorate in animal behaviour. Those poor kids if the parents cant teach them to respecty others property and basic safety and manners what hope have they for the future. As well as Dog Education Classes there should be parent classes! I have NO problem telling kids and parents what is right and what is NOT, like the little darling sticking a Tennis Racquet through my gate at my dogs! Worst thing is he got my attention and not the dogs! Hasnt been back to get the raquet yet! Bloody parents, its a sad world out there at times, on a positive note I always tell kids and parents when children are using manners, such a rare thing these days to hear a please and excuse me but when you do ITS SO NICE!

As well as video of the kids in the act, call the local shire and report the incident of harassment towrads your dog, this is viewed( if anything ever happens) as provacation by cause, and will be taken into account if the dog does bite. All very well to report at the time of an incident but it is better to pre warn, and as your dog is being antagonised it is not an offence. Under law people do require acess to your fron door uninhibited, however that is for acess a person intruding on property for no cause would be considered a different matter ( by a council) It is also a good idea to get video of the "good kids" walking past and patting the dog as well. Kids and parents who cant control them are a serial menace, good luck. I believe under law the only people that have the right to trespass on your property are those engaged to do such work as electricy meter readers, council workers, police etc. Not your average joe blow does not have the right legally to be able to come up to your front door. AFIK I cant find the law link at the moment but its not regarding everyday Jo Blo, it is mainly for emergency service workers ( bought in after an incident years ago where dogs were shot after ES could not gain acess to a house)but it clearly states Legally you are required to provide safe access to your front door. Visitors to your home must be able to enter your property safely, without being stopped by your dog. It is not trespass on property it is ref to as safe access to the front door.

Very sad indeed but until some miracle occurs we will be stuck with morons like this unfortunatley. Anywhere a quick dollar is!

What a shame thereare so many "people" breeding cresteds now and many are fear biters and agressive little mites ( bad lines) Good luck with your girl very sad that cresteds have gone this way, too many people wanting a unique looking dog, the Cresteds and Xolo have gone the same way in the USA. Great work with rescue of her, you take everybodys cast offs and rescues GREAT WORK YG you are an Angel PS She looks so sweet!

Import / Aqis - Temperament Not Included?
Wazzat Xolo replied to BJean's topic in Breeders Community
Yes thankyou I have sent you a reply email re the prefix/suffix requirement for recognition - did you get past that with the Xolos? Yes, it took 6 months to have the breed recognised here and can be fully shown July 1st this year, the FCM have Xolos shown world wide, just Australia does things a little diff according to them! lol -
Some breeds can have a few years waiting for a dog and people may want to shop around to see what breeder they can get the earliest dog from. I think if people let the breeder know they are investigating the breed then I personally wouldnt consider it time wasting, but then again I get an awful lot of people who ask questions who I know really have no intention of buying a puppy, they are just interested in the breed.
