I said to a lady the other day what great manners her son had, he actually said "Excuse me " to me to get passed!! ( aged 6/8 ish) and she was so surprised as well and when she told him what I had just told her, he was as proud as punch, and made me feel good too! Maybe everyone is just so busy they forget, but thats no excuse ! -

Yes and I like the good stories of the bonding that the oldies ( as in experience) speak of, I wrote to a canine Association the other day to say thank you for a few things they had helped me with and they were gob smaked i wanted to say a Public Thank you, but I feel in the day and age the words thank you do not come out enough, and I was so impressed with what people did that I believe a thank you was in order!! -
OMG I hope Police and Dog people can reunite Harry with his owners what a dreadful thing to happen, a worst nightmare I would imagine. J

Just a big thank You to Sue Mallia after last weeks show at WA Canine Centre. The handler of my Xolo came down with a terrible injury whilst running around the ring, as we rushed to her and to get her out of the ring, I instructed someone who had my dog just to put him back in his crate. Lovely Sue who had dogs of her own in the line up was all to helpful to offer to take my boy around the ring and finish the Group, this I was very grateful for as its not often I see this side of the show world. It was super for someone who doesnt really know me or my dog to make this effort and they looked great. Just wanted to publicly thank Sue who certainly made a big impression with me for all the good and nice people in the show world which sometimes we dont see enough of! For those that know Kim she has a badly torn hammy ( off the bone) and will be out of action for three months. J I made this video to thank Sue and Kim

Yep, I was only reading a website this afternoon that talked about how DDs ONLY inherit traits from the "strongest" and "healthiest" parent so will therefore inherit the BEST of both breeds. And how do we determine what the best of those breeds are? Well, according to this website it goes something like this: Nature relies on survival of the fittest. When two different pure bread dogs are mated together, the hybrid puppy that results takes on the best physical characteristics from the stronger parent. As a result we end up with a much stronger and healthier puppy genetically. For example: The cavalier King Charles is prone to hernias which form as a small lump on the dogs stomach, some of which need to be operated on. However because this is not a health issue in the beagle breed, Sherlock has taken on the characteristic of the beagle, because in this case it is the stronger dog. Hmmmm so let me get this right, according to this information the puppies will take on the best physical characteristics of the healthiest breed? But what is to say that the healthiest breed will be the most asthetically pleasing or have the most desirable features There is just as much chance that the puppies will inherit the worst traits of their parent breeds. Beagle with a Cav coat and hernias anyone? Oh gee, and what about the OTHER health issues that exist in both breeds...? Doesn't quite add up does it? But the website is flashy and professional and the dogs look healthy so they must know what they are talking about. Right. Right?? Getting back on topic; If the Labradoodle is to go ahead and be recognised as a legitimate breed under it's current name without the ALA getting out there and raising public awareness of what their breed is about (and that it is NOT a DD F1 cross breed) then what is the likelyhood that it's going to give even more credibility (in the eye of the general public) to unsavoury DD breeders? I'd say pretty darn high Pure bread???????????????????????????????????? bread as in gingerbread! deary me How can one trust a site who cant use the spell check or grammar! lololol

I'd not call a Stafford "pretty" but they have their own brand of charm and the "Stafford Smile" is hard to resist. Very true Staffords or Poodles are not my cup of tea, but gee there are some stunning dogs out there of both breeds. We are regularly beaten in Group by the stunning Poodles, they are poetry in motion, and the Staffords in my view are just charmers and beautiful. Actually I cant say I see any breed as ugly ( although I know a few people think mine is ) All dogs have something and thank godness for that and that we all like our own breeds for what they are. J

As in a previous post everyone has a whinge at dog shows its just how it is!! Dogs bark, owners bark, squeek toys, throw bait, brush dog hair everywhere, make comments gee where does one stop!! It is all for fun!! I think some people take it to the extreme and far to serious afterall everyone does it to have a good day out and a bit of fun dont they ? Promote the breed and such?? everone has narks and dislikes and I was ex[pressing what I would do, cant cahnge that I am afraid lol -

I would have told her to get stuffed! These are the same complainers that bitch when their male is distracted because a bitch in season walked past the ring about a kilometer away! These may also also be the same people that arm themselves with a squeeky and use it non stop (to no response from their dog) and yet can't handle anyone else doing it. These are also the same people that often spend half an hour brushing their dog after the judge examines them on the table, gait it three or four steps, pick up the dog and walk back to their spot and will totally lose it if anyone comes within six feet of their dog claiming the little fluff doesn't 'do' big dogs, 'black dogs', 'white dogs' or 'small dogs'. lol EXCELLENT and so true !! tell her to shut up and mind her own business, FGS its not playing for sheep stations!! -
so sorry for your loss Run free dear girl at that great big bridge. Hugs to the family xoxoxo

I doubt that any breed that is popular today started like the oodles have. Most of the recognised breeds were selectively bred for a purpose, to a tightly defined standard and any deviation from that standard was rigorously culled from the gene pool. With the *new name needed here* mix they allow all sizes, most coat types and have a standard wide enough to park a road train in. as in most breeds came from two seperate breeds ( of course they are health tested and functional) I was referring to how most breeds are generated in the first instance by crossing two and sometimes more breeds to produce the desired breed!

On the day your chosen breed becomes one half of a new DD craze Wazzat, you may understand how some of us feel. Its happening with Chinese Cresteds now so never say never. Oh believe me I understand as I have seen it in the USA first hand, where the breed a xolo to any dog to get an ugly dog for contests and $$$ that are big in the USA!! I can only do my best here with my dogs!! I meant its the fact that so many breeds that are very popular today started like the Lab x poodle a mix, I am just happy that mine was not a man made breed in the first instance ( Probably didnt word my post to well) J
-
so pleased I never have to worry about my breed as it is a a natural breed and not made by man made selection!! Let he cast the first stone be a brave man! The DD vs Purebred debate will be an ongoing issue for so many reasons and will always fill threads with the same arguements! Very sad on so many levels J

I know its a long way away but I stopped using the one in Bunbury as the local Rescue groups were using it and bringing dogs STRAIGHT from the pound to be bathed!! I was taking my own disinfectant as I know it wasnt cleaned between dogs anyway, but dogs straight from the pound with no known history was far too much of a worry for me. God only knows what they could have had in the way of worms, infections and much worse!! I mentioned it to the managers and the SAFE and SWAR groups but noone seemed bothered so I did not return and started to wash my dogs at home. Dont want to scare anyone but just wanted to share my experience. J
