Try and start teaching the puppy to walk into a stack, with a big breed you don't want to have to move every leg. That way you don't have to fiddle too much with legs. I would hold the lead with my right hand and use the left to move the legs I need to. Once the legs are placed how you'd like them, I'd swap and hold the lead in my left hand on top of the head- like the first photo in this profile:

Then your right hand is free, so you can use food or a toy to keep your puppy interested, like this picture:

Once your puppy has the idea, you may not have to use the bait anymore. But while you are training it will give you the free hand to use food to make it an enjoyable experience.
