do you know i was driving around yesterday in the Casey shire area in Victoria and right at the back down the back gravel roads it had a sign that i turned around the car for and it read "intensive dog breeding establishments are permitted in this area"......got me obviously they will allow farms to be set up in that area and it shouldn't be the case. this is a reason why we need to have alot more rallies to raise awareness that also shires can't advocate these types of businesses.....there needs to alot more education on puppy farms, i found it disgusting that i saw that sign and i was really shocked that a shire would support such a thing.

having said all that i get what some people are saying about RSPCA, on their website they do state about "pedigree dogs exposed" and what some breeders do which they think is wrong, sort of like anti-registered breeder talk, i got offended by some of their stuff they had on the site. so i wrote to them and they state that the information is correct and its not!! (being in the dogworld our family for over 25 years). but you can't tell them! they stated that it is wrong for breeders of rhodesian ridgebacks to cull their litters. so i wrote back to the girl and told her it is also wrong for greyhounds to be put down after their usefulness in racing and what are they going to do about that? it is more widespread than ridgeback breeders who are in the minority. why don't they concentrate their resources on something more widespread. i have to witness this at my vets everytime i go there and it does upset me.

oscar's law was created by Debra and having a talk to her personally she is well aware of ethical registered breeders, i can't speak for Debra but she is aware of all of us she is against puppy farms as obviously her website "prisoners for profit" states as well and we are all trying to stop puppy farms. i know of alot of people that are trying to stop farms and i am not so much a fan of tougher laws or regulations because how much tougher can they be? there is already a code of practice that is strict, the farms are complying with all that legislation as they keep stating to whoever will listen and also the council who they are in bed with, look at the one near us in Gippsland which is the largest in Australia. they are complying and RSPCA and authorities can't touch them because of legislation in place. these places needs to be closed down in my view so thats what i will be there for anyway. also it is to get awareness out in the community not to buy from petshops who get their supply of pups from these farms such as the one near us.....many people still don't know they are supporting puppy farms by buying a pup in the shop window. so a rally will raise awareness of this....

hi poodiful1, it is all about puppy farms and stopping farming of animals. i am going to be there because of Debra Tranter being a guest speaker. i fully support her and what she does for the dogs of farms. been talking to her for a few years now and want to finally meet her in person.

Not that I know of. At the Dogs SA Open Day they had a "Find Harry" stall, and we were all given fliers and asked to letterbox drop them. Hopefully they find him. thats a good idea letterbox dropping the fliers. i wish i was living near Kylie i would surely be doing this for her in that area.
-
yes that is a good idea. let them know that their comments were disgusting!
-
yes but sssshhhhhhh...... the magic of television, people that don't know about that side of things get to comment about it when clearly they have no idea.
-
i have put it in general because so many more pet people not breeders and/or exhbitors come here. the owner has asked to spread the word particularly amongst the non dog world and show world so far everyone in the dog world knows but not as many people in the public - any coverage on this topic is a good thing and might help for someone to see something in their neighbors backyard! these are the people we are trying to access.
-
doesn't surprise me at all........chris brown is known as an idiot as well unfortunately among dog groups. he has an article in the womans weekly or new idea i think, picked one up a few months ago and low and behold there is a person asking a question to him about which dog breed should i get for an apartment. well he answered a DD then gave advice on how to care for it and it was just advice that would not work with dogs. can't remember what it was but really pathetic, so i wrote to him and totally chewed him out over it. telling him about shelter dogs and the over population explosion we have in this country and farms and how dare he promote Designer dogs. next thing i hear him on 7pm project promoting desexing and talking about how bad puppy farms are. lol lol but i think he listens then corrects himself at least he is better than burke anyway. doesn't claim he knows everything and not listen.....give him that.

we need to spread the word to the general public to get it out there about this little dog.......... The following appeared on the 'Adelaide Now' website: "In other Show updates, a prize Chihuahua worth $5000 has been abducted from the Show. Police are investigating after the dog's owners reported it stolen from the dog pavilion late this aft...ernoon. Witnesses said the animal was taken by an Asian male, aged 30-35, 165cm, with a stocky build wearing a grey windcheater with blue horizontal stripes and blue jeans. He was last seen heading towards the ferris wheel." Apparently, an Asian man was seen running from the pavilion, carrying the dog which was trying to bite him. this is wrong the wording should read, a reward of $5000 has been offered for the safe return of the dog, no charges will be pressed and no questions asked. the reward will get bigger i think as time goes on, so if anyone sees anything, might be in your neighbors backyard or in a car or out the front of a house or anything.....please ring crimestoppers 1800 333 000
-
Before the reward was offered the story was that Harry was worth $5000. I wouldn't be surprised if he was worth that. But I do think that it's more important that they report the reward than what he is worth - and I'm sure he's worth more than that to the Sunmans anyway. yes they got that screwed up, he is worth about $250 if he was sold on the pet market to an ordinary home! i had similar dogs like harry and thats all they are worth considering they aren't too friendly with people or kids, no one wants a dog like that. also he isn't a stud and has never been mated so these idiots think they are going to breed him, think again. stupid idiots.
-
yes, i googled the interview on today and i started crying, its just awful, kylie lost her mum to cancer 2 years ago and now this......but what these people don't realise is, the dog isn't worth anything to them, on the pet market he would fetch $250 as i had a boy as pretty as him go for this amount. and he was the same not very friendly with people or kids and not used as a stud. Harry isn't a stud dog hasn't produced any puppies so they are stupid idiots if they think they are going to make money off him. some dogs will not mate and i think harry is one of those dogs just like my little boy i had to sell to a pet home.
-
did they show a picture of the dog? i hope they did, we missed it damn it. but any coverage is good coverage but it was incredibly insensitive and ignorant of them to be laughing about it though.
-
apparently an interview on channel 9 has just gone to air???????? there is a teenager on facebook saying he has asian neighbors who just got a dog yesterday like the one in the media. maybe just mucking around he is laughing........
-
if we all keep on spreading the word there is a good chance kylie will be able to get her beloved dog back, there was a story a few months ago about a parrot, from a well known petstore in melbourne who was snatched and through facebook they were able to get him back and the parrot wasn't microchipped.......... so hopefully advertising through media it will bring the dog back, i am hoping anyway........

what i heard was that Kylie had asked someone else to look after her dogs and they didn't ???? dn't know if this is true. it is so easy to take dogs from shows these days, i think we all need to start getting padlocks or if we need to show dogs bring a family member who can mind the dogs while you go to the toilet etc. etc. i hate showing on my own thats why i always make sure a family member is present with me these days. it just takes a split second, i notice that sometimes show people do leave their dogs and shows are open to the public. meanwhile we all advertise on the internet, the dogs awards their photo, our phone numbers everything to make it easier for a would be thief. at our last members chihuahua comp in victoria here, we had a meeting left our dogs outside near tennis courts on a footy field......i said and others, shouldn't we get someone to mind our dogs, there were 2 suspicious looking men hanging around looking at all our dogs, some were just in pens easy access. so we got someone to mind the dogs, the men were waiting to play tennis but i am always mindful of this so thats why i suggested someone should be watching. this is the way the world is going, that dog would be worth less than $500 if they sold it in the pet market, what is that asian guy thinking, DD"s are worth more than a chihuahua!!!!!!! sadly........
-
Kylie is a friend of a friend in our lovely breed. apparently, im not sure whether this is true, but she asked someone to mind her dogs in the show cage and they didn't, then she went to toilet the dogs 10 metres away and someone reported having seen a man take the dog out of the cage, why didn't someone go up to him and say what are you doing, kylie shows on her own most of the time so this asian man would not have been with her so it doesn't take anyone long to realise this man wasn't with her? shame on them whoever was supposed to look after kylie's dogs and didn't./ thats the story i am getting from the show people anyway. but i said that these days advertising on dogzonline with phone numbers, addresses sometimes and in the public arena all the time, people watch and wait, sometimes at shows i see (and i've done this myself!!!!!) the dogs are left on their own. it is easy for a person to go up to pens, cages etc. and just pick up dogs and run away. \ i was the first chihuahua breeder in this country to go online in 1997 and since then i've witnessed trusting people put pedigree certificates scanned online for everyone to get the numbers off and use them on their mongrels. sometimes people are too trusting still in a world thats gone mad and only thinks of greed. that asian man might be thinking he can make alot of money on this dog, but i don't think they know that chihuahuas don't command alot of money a dog of that age, wouldn't even get $500 or maybe less if she sold it as a pet to someone fixed up............DD's get alot more money these days!!!!!!!!!!! so i don't know what that a...hole is thinking taking Kylie's dog like that. i've heard of people at royals do some god awful things to dogs, had friends that left their dog for a minute and he got sick took to the vets and found out that someone at the Royal had feed him glass, it was in his stomach......hate showing at royals because there is just a wall of people and you really have to watch your dogs at all times, people poke at them try and pick them up etc. it can get quite hectic, at melbourne royal where i showed last year, there was just a wall of people around the show people trying to show their dogs, it was badly organised i believe, and i missed my call i couldn't get through the crowd, i had these two old ladies just ambling along, i tried to get infront of them and they swore their heads of at me asking what i was doing. well dah....it was obvious i had a dog in my arms wasn't there just for good looks. i mean how ridiculous, now it looks like we will have to all get bloody padlocks to put on showcages while we show dogs............nowadays you can't trust anyone sadly this is the way the world is going and it sucks. for years i've witnessed many breeders who show who just trustingly leave dogs when they are showing and anyone can if they are that way inclined go up and just take dogs and dissappear. particularly if they advertise those dogs on the internet regularly and advertise winnings and have the dogs photo on the net too.

the premier of victoria has a topic on his website about closing down dog farms in Victoria and this is probably their response to it all, put more legislation in to attack the smaller breeders forget about the huge puppy farms that breed up 1500 pups a year on one bloody farm!!!!!!!! its pathetic. i know of many people who have written to this guy to have them do something about these breeding farms........typical, they must all be making alot of money off these large farms.

yes agree 100% this is what i've been trying to tell people for ages, don't leave dogs vunerable to anything out there in society by tying them to a pole or whatever. i believe its like tying a todler to a pole and hoping for the best and that they'll be there when you come back from your shopping. dogs like human babies rely on us to make responsible decisions and i believe tying your animals to poles is not really responsible. had a person who bought 2 of my dogs tell me that he used to go to the local supermarket after tying the 2 dogs to a pole i didn't know he did this then proceeded to tell me that one day 2 men tried to untie the girl and she is a bit timid so was barking he looked out and caught them. so if she had not have barked she would have been stolen. the 14 year old died and he wanted to replace him with one of my other dogs, so we put a stipulation on him that if he was going to own another one of our dogs he was not to tie the dogs outside shops any longer. just ignored us and basically told us that he was still gona do it. some people are so ignorant it hurts.

i work in the public transport industry in Melbourne so thought i'll put some on trams and trains etc. get the message out there to the public. should be awesome though, can't wait, i hope a decent number of people will turn up.

tell me about it, everyone probably knows by now that i started an all out war in my breed a few years ago (my former log in was SANRITA) simply because i stated that we had a problem with slipping patellas in our breed and it was very common. well the flak i got from that statement, breeders just wouldn't admit it and then took offense some even refusing me studs because i'd quoted the truth for the world to see. some said that i was making the breed look bad, some even accused me like as though i started the disease up myself in the breed. all i was inferring in the end instead of hiding it for generations that we be honest with each other and everyone else, it didn't go down too well at all. that was sad to see the reaction like that when it should have been much different so sometimes breeders can be like this, since then i've been pumping out articles for breeders to read getting to the new breeders and i think breeders are much more accepting that breeds sometimes have problems that we need to iron out and stick together.

how gorgeous!!!!!!

If people had a purpose more then cash then fine. There are always breeds in development but the breeders dont make outragous claims. How can every memeber of a breed in development be 'perfect'. They cant. The oodle people are more then happy to charge through the nose for these dogs and yet they have no clear outcome in sight for what the breed is meant to be. They want to create a fluffy pet. OK ... err ... planning fail there? Coolies are not being sold for stupid sums of money and rediculous claims made about them being the next perfect 'wonderdog' for everyone. If you want to create a breed you need a purpose in mind, there are plenty of dogs already fitting the 'pet dog' category without having to be hideously overpriced with over inflated marketing. People who want these dogs usually fall for the no groom hybrid vigour rubbish as well as the 'intelligent' bit (which is usually meaning 'train less!' to the credit card holder) They used working breeds to create a dog with no real working purpose which to me is a FAIL. my recycled rescue pooch is a good pet, had to work with him as he was raw he had no training when i got him.. lots of people think that recycled pets in pounds, shelters have been dumped because of their behaviour so get put off. apart from talking up pedigrees i also talk up recycled pets and use my dog as a great example, so far we have inspired 3 ppl to get recycled pets. there's all sorts of different reasons why a pet is dumped not just because of behaviour. with my Jake, he grew into a big dog finished being a puppy so i think that is why he was dumped and left in a backyard to die with no water, shelter or food. i mean any dog can be "intelligent" with the right training, any dog from a shelter, my dog has so many breeds in him and is healthy so far touch wood, hybrid vigour? or just luck, go the latter i think.

Sad isn't it, that we open the door for the oodle peddlers and give them the opportunity to promote their barrow full of oodle poo. Try doing the same for the pedigree dogs on a mutt forum and you get instantly deleted. i agree i found it with some of the comments actually promoting a DD and not sticking up for the Pedigree dog and promoting. isn't it any wonder that the public is totally confused and end up buying a DD over a pedigree, if they question why is a pedigree dog better than a DD and they get some of the answers that have been in here..... very sad............

I am not sure why you are laughing or being smug. Labradoodles do have a registry. They do have ancestoral records. They do have breeders registered under their registry. Personally, apart from the obvious history time difference, I feel they are on the rough side of being legitimate just as much as Mini Foxies, White Sheps, Koolies or any orther breed in exsistenace and with a registry but not recognised by the ANKC. According to the ANKC regulations even if they have all the other requirements they will still not be recognized for the following reason "10.2.1 Any new breed or breed of dog “under development” must have a unique breed name, and is not a combination of recognised breed names or part of a recognised breed name and it must be pertinent to the purpose of the breed." What would be the purpose of the labradoodle besides making money for the breeders? its original purpose for the guide dog assoc it failed and the original breeder chose to opt out because he couldn't get them uniform in coat type. this is what i dug up about being a recognised breed with ANKC 500 entire dogs registered by an association which has been incorporated for 15 years. The Australian Labradoodle Assoc has now been acting as an incorporated registering body of Laradoodles for almost 10 years. so too is the Aussie Bulldog Association is trying to get recognised by the ANKC but they have so many different types that can be bred in the same litter that I would think they are a long way off yet. the Labradoodle is in the same boat from what i am reading and seeing. They all have to be uniform in type, size and appearance for 20 generations at least. im sure there are many other breed registries out there although i fail to see who they are for ALL BREEDS of dog for a central registry not just breed clubs or associations. I did find a new association for BYB's who have formed on the internet here in Australia. IF that is the case then any mongrel dog can get recognised, If we didn't have breed standards with the ANKC then there would be bedlam with dog breeds and it would be up to individual breeders who all think and believe in different goals. So we all need to be answerable to someone and a central registry the ANKC does that. How about a cockapoo in America where they claim it is a legit breed and has only become popular through the internet, i watched it soar to popularity when i first logged onto the net in 1997 when there weren't many aussie reg breeders around then, these crosses are bred solely for fads no other purpose in mind. When a purebreed is bred for fads in society or a breed is popular you are going to get plenty of BYB's not concerned with health, type or ability. inthe 70's it was the afghan, everyone had an afghan, now you don't see them around much. every decade brings a new fad of a purebreeds except in the 21st century it is now the designer dog=mongrel cross bred dog.
