Leerburg actually recommends doing it with all dogs, not just dominant and aggressive dogs but he also doesn't allow his dogs loose in the house till 2 which I find far too long.
-
Pretty sure the EPA recommends the removal of these, unless there is another tree with little orange/red fruit things?

Still reseaching the best breed, breeders etc alot to do before choosing the right one. So just looking at names. Do you think Maximus is too long as in syllables? I like long names but people say stick to shorter ones so they remember faster. What do you think? You'll end up calling it Max. I called Axle - Axe, Lily - Lil, Gizmo - Giz.

Advice About Chelsea's Behaviour
Just Midol replied to iltby's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I took Chelsea for walks heaps when I was there and I doubt we had any improvement at all. She might have been a tiny bit more settled but nothing major. From what I can gather you are suggesting that she forces Chelsea to remain around men? Are you sure this will help and not be detrimental? -
How Often Should Dogs Eat Bones?
Just Midol replied to austen's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Quite often I will ONLY feed my dog a carcass or a lamb neck for a meal. Gizmo doesn't even finish his carcass sometimes, he only needs 300grams or so. I feed bones everyday. -
Alison, I think that all depends on the supplier. I know pet mince at my butcher is just mince that they haven't managed to sell. It's too old to sell but still fine to eat (butcher says he eats it.) They've always thrived on it. Bonnie, when we see a Kangaroo we all run and watch it We don't get many kangaroos here. I'll ring the council. --- I might get a few of those composite things as well to see how the dogs like them.

You can eat/drink as much snake venom as you want without dying. If the dog had a cut in her mouth or something then venom will enter the body. If the fang scraped the insides of her throat she will have venom in her body. This is assuming the venom exited the venom glands. If the dog had venom in its system it'd be dead, or showing signs by now. Venom on human skin does nothing. She probably had an allergic reaction to it.

How would one go about finding a Kangaroo hunter? Thanks, they have quite a few different types of mince/meat/chunks I'd be interested in trying. I just want to give the dogs a variety. Ever tried Camel? If they don't want to deliver I can pick it up anyway. Westiemum, I used to get mince with that green preservative but now I won't feed it if I spot it (or if they tell me it has it.) Problem is I can't find human grade roo mince either except at woolworths and I don't like woolworths.

Where do we all get out Kangaroo? Happy to drive to Brisbane to get it, but the price has to be better than what I can get here I can get it for $4.70/kg but will only feed it on a regular basis if I can get it cheaper than that. I want to feed Roo twice a week. ETA: The roo I can get is "Aussie Pet Foods" brand but I cant find a website for them.

This is the way I see it: 1) You are experiencing the extinction burst, tough it out. It'll get better eventually. 2) Somehow the dog has been rewarded. You said you give it no attention (this includes telling it off) so you can rule this out. 3) It is an issue like sep anxiety which requires a behaviourist.

It can get worse before it gets better - an extinction burst or something. I can only offer very basic advice, as in, my advice is all used up Someone like Erny should come in soon.

Introducing Dogs When They Can't Stand Each Other
Just Midol replied to tramissa's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Also with resources... You have to figure out what the dog considers a resource. I made this mistake with Lily and Gizmo once. I couldn't figure out why they kept fighting but it was because we had differing ideas on what was a resource. -
Letting a dog inside to combat this problem is a stupid solution imo. What if the new owner has to lock the dog outside for a few days or few hours and the dog destroys the door? Whether or not she rehomes to a family who want an indoor or outside dog the dog needs to be taught that scratching at the door is not acceptable... JMO of course. I have no real advice on the issue. Axle used to do this, we simply ignored it and he figured out that he did not achieve the desired result so the behaviour ended. I assume you give her no attention when she does it (IE, none at all.)

Yep. You ignore the rules as well, btw. So don't get on your high horse.

Ahhh, that's right. It's the ANKC. Maybe I just have to join and ignore their rules

Aggression Workshop **2 Places Available**
Just Midol replied to Akitaowner's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I don't. Well, it's a lot of money... But not a lot for a workshop. Am I explaining myself well enough? -
Well, I'm not joining an organisation unless their views match mine :p

When I go to NSW I'll consider doing it, depends whether I approve of DogsNSW.

Never considered using my tongue, might just do that. I can probably click my tongue quicker as well. I can't use words, I'm not consistent enough. I try to be but it just doesn't work.
