  1. Mums Cav got it and so did Montu. So far I am being turned away from Vaccinations more and more (I already only do 12 & 16 weeks.)
  2. I put mine on Benji (a cav) and the e-collar bit was almost as big as his head. HTH.
  3. Puppy pics in the photos thread! Under dur dur dur I think. Lily is a cuddle bum. A bit cautious in groups but the more we get out and about in groups the better.
  4. I walk mine on long lines if individually walking. They can do whatever they want... except piss and shit. That's a no no. If walking both at a time then on a split lead and they walk in front at all times so I can see them at all times.
  5. Lmao, even my Mum zapped herself Initially it wasn't willingly though. It's so hard to be patient. I want to get the best results so I am taking ages to let them get used to the collars (okay it's been 2 days so far) but I want to start now ;)
  6. Lmao. Lily & Gizmo are Huskies, Montu is a GSD. Gizmo has dog aggression. Montu is a working dog. Lily is just normal None of them have the best training, they can do tricks with 100% reliability (including sit and stay)... but that's it ;) Hopefully Lily will be better when we come. ETA: Me = Wtf? I swear there wasn't a second page 2 seconds ago
  7. Ohhh, darn, I knew I missed something in my lesson I'm more relaxed and I haven't even used mine yet. I was never a big believer in them till now. I wasn't anti e-collar and was willing to try but for some reason just the theory has completely won me over.
  8. I've got my e-collar now (a 1902) from K9force The sibes are still being conditioned or whatever its called but I'll be starting training soon, will update my progress But, how high can everyone handle? I can zap myself with nick at 127 - hurts though. Constant I can only get to 80 or so. Till about 45 it just feels like an odd tingle.
  9. I'm going, bringing Lily with me. Montu & Gizmo will just be too much trouble as Gizmo will eat anything that comes within 3m of me and Montu just can't be given much attention and honestly, I don't trust people enough to ignore him when I ask
  10. I also have no stay. If I want my dog to stay I put him in a sit or a drop and he will stay there till I bloody well tell him to come to me He gets distracted easily, but it's good enough for a companion dog who never goes off leash.
  11. Depending on when it is I'll come and costs will decide whether I stay. BTW, I can only stay if I am in a room alone or with no other dogs... OR the others reach an agreement on letting the dogs out of crates as I won't keep Gizmo in a crate for the entire night (dog aggressive.)
  12. I've walked on a joint lead before. BUT each dog also has a seperate lead with their prongs. Didn't really work, I just got confused with the amount of leads and jerked the wrong ones when giving corrections. I'm hoping I can use my e-collar to replace the prong collars on walks.
  13. So if I'm reading this right. When feeding a chicken frame on that day feed nothing else? Thanks Yah. But you can't feed just chicken frames every night - need a balance of meat and bones.
  14. In NZ neither prongs or e-collars have come under fire, can import them as well. AFAIK they have no intention at all over there to ban them.
  15. If mine get a chicken frame then they usually dont get anything else. A frame is 250-300g which is about what Gizmo gets (he is 18kg) anyway. I just make sure over the period of a week I balance out his meat -> bone ratio.
  16. That sounds great thanks and should there be limits to how many tricks per lesson, or do you stick to 4 a lesson or less/more? I only go over one thing in each training session. Though on walks I sometimes put some training into it with random sits and drops and such.
  17. Yeah they lose interest. 10 minutes is far too long imo. Try dropping back to 3m three times a day and see if they improve at all. Longer doesn't necessarily mean better.
  18. Yaha. How many times a day, sometimes 5, sometimes 2, sometimes none. I just judge how eager they are at the time.
  19. Can you make your own tug with some squeaky things in it?
  20. Both of the sibes here learn tricks fine. However... One needs training sessions of 1.5 minutes and the other can almost handle 3. Both pick up tricks easily enough BUT it's proofing the tricks under distraction which is where it gets tougher and corrections are needed imo. They both know that COME means come but chasing xx or doing yy is more interesting to them so I am slowly introducing corrections. If I tell my dogs to jump (which I do) then they are expected to jump for me whether they want to or not. I don't care i fence fighting a chicken is more fun they are always expected to come to me or do whatever i darn well tell them to do Our training is to blame... not the dog I've gone from being a Sibes can't be trained person to a any dog can be trained person providing we can figure out how to train the individual dog. Dunno if I make any sense but meh
  21. Ahhh. Well, the ANKC don't approve of prongs from memory so you might get into strife.
  22. Kavik didn't read properly "ie walking by my side when not in the ring" Or I misunderstood, I thought she meant for training outside of showing?
  23. I don't like checks. I'd never use one, all the "pressure" is in one spot on the neck. Without knowing how hard/soft your dog is I'd just go for a prong
