  1. You can neutralise a dog and still have its focus remain off you. My pup has been neutralised and he won't be focusing on me when heeling or walking. And neutralising to people is easy imo.
  2. Not funny  I couldn't get his lead off.
  3. Umm, ebay has it pretty cheap. $60 for 30m from memory. Should have got some before the seminar then we could have shared it around as I don't really need 30m of tugs
  4. I tried converting Montu to a tug today... Success was about 1.5% - still loves the rag though. I need a proper tug, might order 30m of 1'' firehose or something.
  5. It works, but I'd rather not. I do use corrections, but I'd rather use the least amount of force possible. ETA: The question above depends on what you want out of your dog.
  6. Lol. The more you read/watch of his the more you realise he is very pro-hard corrections. If you want to train this way then that's your choice but I chose to use the smallest correction I can possibly use... and he has some really warped views on everything, not just dog training. Personally, I own eight of his DVDs and learnt a lot from them... Not just "how to do things" but also "how NOT to do things" - I'm still a better owner for watching them though.
  7. Leerburgs a douche (not really, but I disagree with A LOT of what he says.) Play tug and develop his drive.
  8. I THINK we have two hoses here (large diameter) that I can cut up and send to people if they need hose. I am NOT sewing it for you tho
  9. My two were pretty well behaved, Gizmo was a bit of a dick and kept setting off the two sheps (nfi what he has against sheps) but I managed to keep his whining to a minimum.
  10. Arg. Left one of my crates there -.- Was a good weekend tho. Even if I did have to leave the night time one (was falling asleep, no sleep for over 32 hours and dog training does not work for me.)
  11. You showies need Gizmo. He rarely gets dirty, he can be covered in mud one day and within 4-5 days he is perfect and white again.
  12. In larger prey my understanding is that the dog will avoid everything from the stomach and intestines.
  13. Not washing mine. Montu is red from dirt and Gizmo smells but meh, he's a dog
  14. I assume you mean as in let go? Definitely. The difficulty is that she goes into "hyperdrive" in such games. Its taken me a long time to get her to "give" her ball when fetching, she would rather chew it like gum . With the tug I felt it was more prudent to avoid it after witnessing her "shutdown" when tugging on other dogs- she only lets go for air, same with tug toy with me. I dont really have the words to describe it any other way- her eyes almost glaze over and she just is "gone" when like that. It hasn't seemed worth it, but now you've gotten me thinking- it may be a good opportunity to teach her a drive "off" command. That was your point wasnt it? Yeppers, that was my point
  15. I did a week and a half, then a 3 day stint without it (neck problems) and then 3 days with it, then found working levels, then another day, then did my first session. His collar goes on every day whether I intend to use it or not. I really have no desire to take him off the collar but meh.
  16. It depends on what I am training and what tools I am using.
  17. All shampoo strips the oil... A "good" shampoo still will. I wash my show girl with Aloveen every single week and her coat is beautiful. No problems at all with her skin - not dry, not flaky, not itchy. Never said you'll get any problems.
  18. Could it be beneficial playing tug and teaching "out"?
  19. My dogs will look crap I was hoping I could show my work I did with the e-collar but Gizmo kept scratching his neck where I shaved his fur (bad me) and ended up inflaming it so I couldn't use the collar
  20. All shampoo strips the oil... A "good" shampoo still will.
