  1. Because if you're training in drive then you can never have too much drive?
  2. Ohh yeah, I have antibiotics and she jabbed him with something for the pain but I've forgotten what it was

behavior of a dog is not 100% based on its hormone levels. Its genetics, environment and learned behaviors - is it not? Yes. Personality however, is not simply "behaviour". I don't really give a toss if a dog can still "work" once desexed. Desexing CHANGES the dogs behaviour. Whether it is by a lot, or a little, changes occur. Hell, the main reason most desex is to alter SEXUAL DRIVE. That's reducing a drive, and modifying a personality. Desexing alters personality and behaviour, good luck convincing me otherwise. If it didn't change anything then we wouldn't get it done.
  4. Went to the vets. He is allergic to some kind of plant, but we don't know what plant so I'm ripping all shrubs out of the garden to see if its the grass. If its the grass, then we have to keep it short. If that fails, fake grass in his run. His swollen face is caused by one of two things: 1) Bite. 2) Impacted Tooth. She is voting 1, as his teeth don't appear to be sore but she can't be certain as he cries/whines if she touches anywhere near his swollen area (including his entire mouth) so all drive building work is off for now and he has 5 days to improve or he goes under. She is worried if its the bite that it'll turn into an abscess as it is very painful for him. Apparently he is growing too fast as well. Less protein for the machine.
  5. 2% is far too much for a Husky. 1-1.5% is ideal for a sibe.

Then we disagree on what encompasses personality.
  7. Tangerine, we don't have any We only have nurofen here and no other pills at all. It was tough enough getting my fingers in his mouth but I'll try and look for cuts We're talking one VERY drivey dog here so he likes to bite Ahh, so the seeds grass makes. Well, we'll see what the vet says. Dunnwarren, you can have it I'm sick of it, the dirt has just dried so it's no longer mud but $50 says we get more rain this w/e.
  8. I put grass seeds down a few weeks ago We've had tons of rain though, my house is never dry It still could be one though. Vet opens in 30 mins.

Really ? please explain Thought the dog was a male, but I assume bitches lose drive when desexed as well. Tis' the reason working dogs are entire, after all. Not entirely sure how I explain it. Remove the dogs balls or girly bits and the dogs drive drops. Do you need a diagram?
  10. A grass seed hey? You mean literally, a grass seed? As in a seed that grass grows from?
  11. Probably a bee. Bastard, I didn't want to stay up tonight. He needs to go to the vet for a check up anyway but he can go up in a few hours. Thanks guys. (going to inspect gums and such now.) ETA: It appears to be ABOVE the gum line, like if I shove my finger in his mouth it is above where my finger goes up to. EDIT: Scratch that ETA. Had my fingers on the wrong side. It's above his teeth and runs up to under his eye and covers almost the entire muzzle length.
  12. The entire right hand side of my dogs muzzle has flared up. It's not soft, really hard actually but something is definitely going on as it wasn't like it yesterday. Can this be a symptom of teething?

It'll lower the dogs drive which is a personality change.
  14. A working line Groenendael. Also a Malinois. I plan to import a working line Groenendael in the future.
  15. No dogdude I haven't seen the parents working, however as I said I spent quite a long time with both parents and I was happy with what I saw. This particular breeder is not unknown to me as I've seen various shepherds they have breed working in the trial ring and was very impressed with what I saw. They came highly recommended by someone far more experienced in the obedience ring than I'll ever be, so I'm happy with the choice I've made. My next step is choosing the right pup and this is where I'm asking for your help. I've already learnt that five weeks is a little young so I'm hoping the breeder might let me wait until they are seven weeks. There are some great suggestions here and I appreciate all of them, so please don't hesitate in adding to this list. It depends on how you intend to train them.
  16. Kongs only last 10 minutes with my sibes (with frozen mince in them.) I just make ice blocks and use bones.
  17. I'm not, but I did a lesson with him. So far I've had no questions on it as he explained it so well.
  18. Mine is going slowly as well, mostly because if I work a twelve hour shift I am usually too tired to do it after I work with Montu
  19. I should have written something :S No idea why I didn't. I think I just forgot? But then, I never fixed any major issues with my prong.
  20. Even then, targeting protection trained dogs is pathetic. They are probably safer than the majority of pets. Prot dogs do need additional restrictions, but not the dangerous dog tag.
  21. Jessca, they gave me the right times and dates then moved it forwards a week without telling me. I had booked all my accommodation, organised time off work, paid for everything I was taking and then LUCKILY TB found out that it had been moved. Somehow being moved 20mins down the road seems minor to me
  22. Lily has had two, both times they've done it either on the day I ring, or the next. It can get bigger the further away surgery is = more money, even uglier ear.
  23. Yah. I'm giving them one more chance, after that, I won't be able to due to time constraints but surely they can't mess me around three times
