New To Showing In Australia
Fit for a King replied to Sailingkiwigirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
Is the puppy registerd on the Main Register of Dogs Queensland (or another state association)? If not you cannot show her. If your pup is on the Main Register in another state you have 3 months to transfer her rego to DQ or you cannot show her. -
These are the same people......
-
rome - you keep being asked if you have consulted the breeder but you are yet to answer??? If is is a genetic issue then 1) the breeder should be made aware 2) you may have recourse on the cost of treatments etc from the breeder 3) the breeder may have seen it before and can offer advice/recommendations for treatment....
-
if the dog is fully owned by the person with the papers then yes it can be sold and transferred....if it is co-owned then no - they would need to get permission from all thw co-owners....... I take it there was no contract signed stating something to the effect that if for any reason the buyer couldn;t keep the dog the breeder had first option to take it back?

Further Changes To Grand Title
Fit for a King replied to Trisven13's topic in General Dog Discussion
Not forgetting she has also handled BRTs which are in very short supply .....IMO rare breeds tend to aim "higher" - they often compete against numerically smaller groups of their own (if there is even competition) but then aim to be highly competitive in the group lineup....... -
S & D - I think Nelson is qualified....just not Gary......but I agree - stick to the qualified, registered ones....
-
It may well depend on the council....Brisbane City Council used to act very quickly when it received reports like this (I reported my neighbour's poodles who were being let loose in the street and attacking other dogs and anyone walking them) - owner warned and fined...her kids let the bloody dogs out again and they attacked two joggers - were very quickly declared dangerous dogs and had to be contained.......she was a complete nutjob - blamed everyone int he street but took no responsibility herself....mind you her kids were feral and used to do some terrible things to the dogs - all reported by witnesses to the RSPCA - now THEY did nothing.......
-
Just a word for the wise - Gary may be great but he is not registered and cannot legally dispense drugs.....should anything go wrong you may not have a leg to stand on (no pun intended) - best to stick to a registered chiro.....
-
corvus - the problem with your plan is that there are so many numbnuts that don't give a toss what signals are being given and wouldn't listen to anything anyone has to say - they are too busy on their phones, discussing what happened on the latest reality show, chatting up a prospective bonk for the evening or staring off into the distance....that's if they are still even in the park and haven't gone to sit in the car while Fido has a run...I don't do the dog park thing as I have seen time and time again idiots letting their dogs run riot and not giving two hoots what happens unless their dogs are the victims of the ensuing all in brawl.....

Urine Off Odour and Stain remover is a great product - can be used inside or out.....

http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/hit-by-a-car-man-run-over-while-fleeing-aggressive-dog-20111005-1l7rl.html Hit by a car: man run over while fleeing aggressive dog Alicia Wood October 5, 2011 - 7:36AM .A man was hit by a car as he tried to avoid being bitten by an aggressive black dog, police say. The man, 38, was walking along Lane Cove Road in Sydney's north about 9pm yesterday, when a black dog ran towards him, barking and behaving aggressively, police said. He stepped out into oncoming traffic to avoid the animal, but was run over. Advertisement: Story continues below He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital with a broken ankle. Police are appealing for witnesses. In a separate incident yesterday, two Rhodesian Ridgebacks entered their neighbour's yard in Sydney's north, killing two Jack Russell terriers, police said. The owners of the terriers returned to their Parklands Road, North Ryde home to find their dogs dead in the backyard. Police are preparing a report for Ryde City Council. A police spokesman said: "It appears both owners showed diligence and care in keeping their dogs behind fences. Somehow they got through, and now any action is at the discretion of the local council." If she does come home I would convince your friend to whip her off to the vet for the morning after shot.....or better still for a spey........
-
I'm confused by the "I put her out Tuesday night...by Monday morning she had artfully escaped"...does this mean she was out from Tuesday through to the following Monday - 6 days? In season? Unattended?

I have a large breed and one of my girls had her first litter at 5.5........had her second and last litter this year at 8....was a great mum.....I had her spayed afterwards....she's in great shape, as playful as she was as a kid....circumstances prevented me from mating her before now....had i had a choice i would have mated her when younger but i have no regrets with the outcome.... i do think it depends on the dog....

Adding Another Bitch To A Two-bitch Household
Fit for a King replied to raineth's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would also do the guilt trip....gee what if one of them was really seriously hurt - could you live with yourself and could you afford the vet bills and the time off to take of her??? etc etc etc.... I run all of my dogs together - males and females, intacts and neuters....have only had one girl that couldn;t live with other girls...well my girls anyway....she lives with friends and runs primarily with an intact boy but occasionally gets in with other intact girls and there is no drama at all....I think they sense she is very dominant and just don't challenge her.....my alpha bitch here was a very calm, quiet dog but there was no way she was moving over for the interloper..... -
absolutely right Pav Lova - I specify not until at least 12 months of age......have not had anyone buck at this or break the contract ....
-
Sigh - I get so tired of this - in some breeds - especially large breeds - it is not feasible/advisable/responsible to spey/neuter at 8 weeks....for those with breeds where it is safe - great...for those of us who don't have that luxury pls stop implying we are irresponsible for not doing so....

I had the opposite Zug Zug - I received an enquiry for a puppy - sent my list of questions and received a response asking who the hell I thought I was and that he wasn't "adopting a child from a Third World Country" and if it was his dog he could do whatever the hell he liked with it without answering to me....I responded (politely) that puppies were my kids and I had every right to ask questions....he in not so polite terms told me to sod off and went into a vitriolic rant about breeders and said he would go elsewhere. I forwarded his details to others in the breed and advised caution......

Would You Reply To This Puppy Enquiry?
Fit for a King replied to Baileys mum's topic in Breeders Community
I have an email template I send to anyone who contacts me. It asks a series of questions and also xclealry outlines my expectations and limitations - eg Limited vs main register etc etc. If they respond we continue to talk, if they don't no harm done..... -
and you need to be a member of your state canine association to show your dog.....if you aren't already...... In Qld you cannot enter a baby without a rego number..... In Qld no 'turbo' registrations available....sigh......

Getting A Dog And Stuck On Breeds, Advice Appreciated
Fit for a King replied to Ozone's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think you've misunderstood. The OP is not interested in traditional guarding breeds as yes, she will more than likely be the main caregiver of the dog - her mother is the person interested in GSD's however I repeat the OP is not interested in GSD's so you wouldn't have to worry about whether you would sell her one or not. and I think you misunderstood - I don't breed GSDs.......
