Naomi83 - get a piece of chain and a padlock and lock the gates for him - but don;t leave the key - that way he won't forget (said very tongue in cheek)
-
and if the owner isn't the breeder then why the hell is someone selling 6 wo puppies....sigh...I know because they can if they aren't registered breeders
-
This comment just struck me "but I took it back out to its mother waiting by the door and I laid it down on the ground," said Mrs McKenna." - not "on the floor" but on the ground.....

Dog Is Coughing! Loudly.
Fit for a King replied to cannibalgoldfish's topic in General Dog Discussion
If you do leave them together - and really no point in spearating now - pls don;t take them out for walks etc until they are no longer contagious. Unfortuntely people do and that's often how it spreads. I persoanlly would NEVER use a communal water bowl..... -
Err anyone find it odd that the dog and pups were in a pen open to the elements...and snakes? No indoor area for them?

Yep can come on out of nowhere seemingly. It is HIGHLY contagious so keep him isolated from other dogs. I had a dog who brought it home from the vet - by the time he showed symptoms everyone was exposed so I had a house full. Noone was allowed on the property - and dogs could only go the vet and back. I isolated for 3 1/2 weeks to be on the safe side. Mine were all treated with antibiotics and cough medicine. Expensive but effective. -
err Libertybrook - your furtherest is Brisbane Royal is it not? Normally a 12 hour drive but for you....you little speed demon....10 1/2.... LOL
-
oh I must have misread it - I thought it said he was pulled through from his yard to the other dog's yard.
-
wasn't it its own yard? was pulled through the fence? They need to redo fencing by the sound of it. Poor dog, poor kids.

"If you really want to do it, you can buy special bowls that have a moat(ap?) around them that you can fill with water " OP mentioned she had tried that..... "I have purchased a ant-proof bowl but to be honest its useless, the water channel is too small and the water evaporates too quickly" If you want to leave kibble down elevate it on a small piece of wood or something similar and sprinkle talcum powder around the edge of the wood. ants don't like talc. I wouldn;t sprinkle around the bowl itself to avoid any possibility of the talc being ingested.

I sympathise but question the use of police resources to transport a dog.......
-
ST - you'll still have to send it to the state council with the approved fee to have it transferred - it isn't transferred until then.
-
I actually think that there are exhibitors who want the rule kept....literally some of them follow dogs and catalogues and the day after the dog was due to be transferred are on the phone or email to the CCCQ lodging a formal complaint because the dog was shown - or get them dq'ed by the show manager prior to the show....normally becauise the dog is beating them and it's one way of keeping them out.....LOL
-
Quite right ellz BUT you must transfer the dog into your name within 3 months or you won't be able to show the dog after that until it is in your name.....
-
I agree with Ellz - if the OP was doing the transporting to the airport then the OP is responsible for ensuring the pup has the least amount of stress possible - ie no 3 or 4 hour wait on a flight (unless of course the booked flight is changed) but if the OP decided to deliver the pup 3 or 4 hours early then buggar off because it suited her and leave it in the lap of the gods then I have sympathy for the puppy but not the OP. AAE for instance take care with animals but they are moving freight - pure and simple - the animal is just one of hundreds of items - you can't expect them (much as we would like to) to check every 10 minutes on an animal that is not flying for hours. If they did open the crate to add water etc and the animal escaped then there would be a hue and cry how careless they had been! I have flown dogs within Qld and within Oz - for animals not travelling with me I lodge them at the latest time possible so their crate time is minimised. I NEVER fly them in the middle of the day in summer - that's craziness. And if they are travelling with me I lodge them as late as possible, go to the terminal and will not get on the flight until I see the crate being loaded...and I tell the girls at the gate that I won't be boarding until the crate is. It isn't rocket science - just good animal management. centiout - putting an animal through Dogtainers is a little different as you are paying THEM to ensure the safety of the animal. Booking an animal yourself straight through AAE YOU assume the risk...to AAE, as I said above, it is just another piece of freight.

Can't Even Walk Down My Street!

and the comment relating to pure bred dogs is relevant how? -
I suspect Ms Moloney's sleepless nights had more to do with lost revenue than the loss of the pup per se.....
-
err - you have only just noticed this? I go over every square inch of my pups when they are born....I would have thought by six weeks you would have looked in their ears????? Sorry if I don't sound sympathetic - I do feel for the dog but I'm just a little gobsmacked.....
-
LOL tell me how on earth you could wait 5 years for a dog - you must be a REALLY patient person LOL
